Very large trees and how to harvest them
Hello-
I have some very large trees in my world (not sure of the species name). They look like they would (or wood) be hard to cut down. I of course tried using my stone ax and gave it twenty whacks, to no avail. Do I need a better ax, or do I need to chop it more, like say 40 times, or research something? Any hint would be appreciated.
-Scott

Edit: I tried hitting the tree 40 times, and that didn't help. I think they are redwood trees.

They take ages to chop.

Maybe I'll wait for my lumberjack skill to level-up, ha ha.

The old red woods have something like 200 health so it will take you about as many hits to take one down with the stone axe. With the iron axe and +1 strength talent it will probably drop to about 60-80 hits.

The giant redwoods take a min or two of chopping to knock down with a stone axe. But they give enough wood to nearly fill a large stockpile.

If I remember it was about 500-1000 logs from one tree... but there is usually only 100-250 redwoods in the wild so be careful.

I've been chopping down the smaller trees, and this seems to get me enough logs.
