Can't use logs to build - RESOLVED

I just got this game. I looked at a couple of Getting Started videos and when they chop trees the ‘logs’ they get are like 3 high and can be used to build.
I’m just getting singular fat logs which won’t stack into a wall.
10 minutes playing and already I’m stuck lol.

Craft a stockpile at workbench
Connect stockpile to workbench (storage menu of workbench)
Put logs into stockpile
Craft hewn logs in workbench
Put 20 hewnlogs in the carry slot (drag and drop from the stockpile)
Slot hammer in actionbar
On the left side of your actionbar are now shape options for your hewn logs; in the beginning you can only have blocks and walls; with shift you can go through the list of shapes or you free your mousepointer and directly click on the desired shape
Build is rightclick, pickup is leftclick (needs hammer slotted)

And craft a storage box and connect it to the workbench as well; you will need that

Where I am stuck is in accessing the Workbench.
The wiki says "Once you've settled on a site, move your Workbench to your toolbar and select it." but I can't find the darned thing to drag it onto my toolbar.
I'm going to start again and see what I missed during the tutorial.
I feel so dumb :(

The workbench might be in your bag. Press B to open your bag.

Sometimes tutorial items do not properly spawn; relogging helped in my case.
