Can't join a friends server?!
So just bought Eco with a couple friends. Obviously right off the main menu you can start a new game with a CLEAR option to allow friends to join. Perfect, so we thought. Everytime we attempt to join a friends game it says connection failed... This is not a bought, rented or installed server, its simply start new game>allow friends to join>friends try to join>connection failed.

Does anyone have the fix because the three of us are ready to make a group refund. Ive read other posts about just renting or whatever but Ive literally never bought a game tagged multiplayer where I cannot just join up with my friends..

Hi there,

Our 7.4 staging version of Eco includes some changes that should make hosting/joining a game with your friends much easier, in that you shouldn't have to deal with port forwarding or network setup or anything like that (aside from 3rd-party firewalls). I encourage you (and your friends) to register an account on http://www.strangeloopgames.com/eco/ and link your Steam accounts (https://imgur.com/a/eoHZC) so that you can download the Staging Beta 7.4.0 version from there.

To be clear, you are certainly able to just join and host games without having to set up a standalone server. The "connection failed" issue typically points to something in your network configuration preventing Eco from properly talking to the internet. The new version does some things that help streamline that process and make it so that you don't need to dig into network settings just to host a game.
