New Tool Ideas for ECO: The Log Peavey & Miner’s Jack Drill
Logging: The Log Peavey – No More "Ba, I Have to Buck the Logs Too!"
Let’s be honest—the logger profession in ECO can feel a bit tedious. Miners get that satisfying vacuum effect when breaking rocks, but loggers? We’re stuck bucking and dragging logs, feeling like we’re fighting against the land itself.
Enter the Log Peavey, a tool designed to make the logger’s life smoother, more efficient, and just plain cooler.
How It Works
• Introduced at Logging Level 2 or 3
• Functionality: Moves whole logs, repositioning them as the player sees fit.
• Alternate Use: Allows loggers to pick up a percentage of a whole log based on tool tier:
o Stone Age (Viking Style): 25%
o Iron: 50%
o Steel: 75%
o Modern: 90% (With a Level 7 perk for 100% pickup and minor ground debris clearing!)
Imagine the difference—no more wrestling with awkward log placements! Now, loggers can efficiently move their materials, making large-scale lumber operations far more manageable.
Mining: The Jack Drill – A True Miner’s Arsenal
Miners in ECO currently rely only on a pickaxe, but real miners—especially in historical Nevada, California, Arizona, and Utah—had a plethora of tools. Let’s bring some of that rich history into ECO with the Jack Drill.
How It Works
• A hand drill used alongside a stone hammer (or an upgraded version).
• Best used with two players—one holds the drill on target, while the other strikes it with a hammer.
• When timed correctly, three blocks are instantly removed!
New Skill Perk: Specialization for Teamwork
At higher mining levels, players can choose between two complementary skills:
1. Hand Jack Drill Specialist – More efficient drilling, leading to better teamwork.
2. Lucky Break – Increased chances of getting extra ore from every strike.
This system promotes cooperative mining while giving solo miners an incentive to team up. And in the future, who knows? This could evolve into Union vs. Company economic dynamics, where different groups specialize in efficiency vs. profit.

These ideas aren’t just about making ECO easier—they’re about making it more immersive, dynamic, and rewarding for players who take on these tough professions. What do you all think? Would these tools make logging and mining feel more engaging?
