Which time 10.0?

Hey all, you tell us playtest for 10.0 Deadline ends today (03.04.). Can you tell us which time and will we be able to setup dedicated server with 10.0?

Unfortunately I have to deliver some bad news: The Update 10 Playtest will not start today evening as originally planned.

With the 9.7.10 test still running we're having too much of a workload to be able to support it accordingly, so we have to move it to after the 9.7.10 playtest finished and 9.7.10 has been released, which we do hope to achieve within this week, depending on feedback of that playtest, but given easter holidays are coming up might take a bit longer. It's important for us to get that parallel version out the door to be able to fully focus on the challenges presented by the new major update, which unfortunately happened later than we had anticipated when the original roadmap was made. At the same time we do not want to rush 9.7.10, given it's what you'll be playing on until Update 10 releases.

@SLG-Dennis thank you for the hard work your putting into the game but why on Earth have you waited till now with no official announcement via steam or social media with regards to delays and instead let us all wait till the day of release and instead reply to peoples comments informing us of the delays

Thought the same but you notice often that this is still a very new and little company with a big and nice game.
I really hoped to play 10.0 on eastern :( so sad now.

Better wait a bit longer than to rush like the usual AAA strategy and then fail. Like it was with Another very famous spacegame 3.18 release :)

Take your time and inform playerbase with some notes/updates what you are working on and its problems/progress. Its alays interesting to read.
and Who knows, maybe even some good idea will be picked up from the rubblemountain of suggestions :D

Because the decision was made in today mornings production meeting, until last week we still hoped to be able to do it. The announcement was made in our main channel, Discord. We don't typically announce minor stuff like this on Steam frontpage, e.g. there has never been playtests announced on Steam either, despite them happening for every single update. Same for the livestreams every week and other info. That's just part of our content policy.

Its a public test.....not a delay for an official release. Expecting this is as an official announcement will only cause confusion..... case in point with your statements :(

This is about a testing release, we'll update you when it's available on our discord, as stated in our announcement. We're working on hotfixes for issues that came with 9.7.10 currently to polish that up, just as noted as well.

So in other words, update 10 was never coming out in April as you have been posting about in other outlets for the last couple months? This is where the frustration and confusion is coming from. So now we have to wait until June?

We have _never_ and _nowhere_ stated that Update 10 is releasing in April, it was always about the public playtest. If you recheck the roadmap post on Steam, it says exactly that as well, all that happened is that we had to move the playtest a bit due to finishing off 9.7.10 - and that has been explained in the statement above. Even the statement given states clearly that "9.7.10 is the version you will play on until release of Update 10", which is why we need to get it done correctly, as it's still a few months until then. Not sure what outlets you are talking about, all the announcements made by me reflect this - be it here, on discord, on reddit, facebook or twitter. And those are the only official channels, anything anywhere else is not official.

Pretty sure there was a couple twitter posts about it, and in a live stream. I guess everyone here has the mandela effect going on or you guys are just not communicating the way you think you are. I am not the only one that thought update 10 was coming out in the first week of April. Whatever, at least we have an answer now.

I've checked all our Twitter posts, none of them refer to that. Given I also manage the livestreams I know that there has not been any such information there either. And the roadmap post literally states it's the public playtest, so the information has always been there.

Also please note that both OP and everyone else in this thread is actually talking about the playtest, not a final release. So people here definitely seem to have gotten the information.

I'm happy to be blamed for any mistakes we actually made, but stating we would have announced the release of Update 10 for start of April is simply wrong.

You missed your "deadline" by far.

I hope we can play it soon and not in May or June. For my personal preference I would like to get 10.0 and not 9.7.10. Nevertheless I think you will rock it.

Yet the dev's did admit that the Deadline would be missed and needed extra time. This was posted in their official discord on April 3rd, 2023. Not a deal breaker, better to push it back then release something with noticable issues or unfinished.

Does it bother me? Nope....Honestly just wish the team the best and am still playing the official version and cannot wait for 10 to be released. Who knows what the delay is....could it be a dev having personal issues and needed time off? Could something happen behind the scenes that a much needed replacement hardware just didn't arrive in time, could it be an issue with the code that needs to be optimized? Never know what the hold up is, we just need to be patient. Game works, its live, official servers are still up, doesn't look like the game is abandoned. Just some players need to take a chill pill, public playtest update was delayed.....No meteor is coming to destroy the game....
