The skills star is not showing up.

Started a new solo game. I am new to the game so i have little clue what is going on but i am slowly working through the tutorial.
i read on a forum post that a wooden house with good furnishings is great for xp gains. At the moment the tutorial has me building an adobe one.
I decided to take up wood working so i could build the better house from the start only to find that i have no skills icon. When trying to get info on this, most posts say it is a graffics or server bug and just restart, but that isn't working. One post mentioned the skills icon might be part of the tutorial and will pop up and some point.
Can anyone confirm that it is part of the tutorial?

You do need to get a good ways into the tutorial before the skills interface shows up. If you want to, you could tick the checkbox for "skip this tutorial" on whatever one is currently up, then "skip all tutorials" on the next message - that will get you your skills interface right away, along with anything else hidden by the tutorial. If you do want to do them later, you can restart them from the ESC menu, and skip anything you have already finished.

Building an Adobe house isn't useless, though, since in order to start making Hewn Logs for a Tier 2 house, you need a Tier 1 room to put your carpenter's table in, otherwise it won't work. The skill you want to take first to make a wood house is Logging - that is the skill for turning raw wood into Hewn Logs. Later on you will take Carpentry to make better/more elaborate wooden items.

thanks fro the info other, i will continue to lug away at the tutorial until skills show up then. while annoying the tut's are helping me learn about the game well enough
