Blast Furnace

Since when did the Blast Furnace require being in a room? I have a brick Square which meets all requirements until i need to place pipes to let the smoke vent out the house. However when i do Break one hole in the building ( there are doors and windows ) the room no longer counts and im back to trying to figure out how to have it vent out of the building and have it count as a room. Every other time punching one hole into the side or on top of a building it still counts as a room but not for a blast furnace. My friends and i are stuck and wondering why the blast furnace now requires being in a room.

A pipe counts as a wall. You just pipe the smog out of the room, and the water into the room

As a side note, you can make full buildings out of pipes.
