Offline mode?
Hi, I'm new to the game and have a noob question. I know there is a single-player option "no collaboration" but I can't help but notice it's still tied to an online server, so basically it still requires internet in order to play the game, is there any info or options or roadmap that will enable or add a true offline single-player experience?

The dedicated server requires a connection to our backend servers to determine what content players have access to, if the license is valid and ensures that a player is who they claim to be for all mechanics that require that (like voting), to prevent abuse and cheating. An offline mode would not be compatible with the general technical structure of Eco and we have no plans to implement one.

@Battle4U: All world information is saved locally on your computer. The backend only stores your user tier, what content you have access to and in the future also your avatar.

I appreciate you participating in the forums here, but it would be great if you could write in english insofar the original topic was written in english as well. It is fully fine to create threads in a specific language, but all posts within should always use the same language as the opening post, so players don't get confused or need to use translators individually, potentially not getting the message you wanted to send. It is fully fine if you use a translator to do so. Please note that further posts in a language differing from the opening post may get removed.

Your required "online" connection is used to verify that you own the game with either the Developer's or with Steam's Authentication servers .. I don't see that changing any time soon.

That would be useful if the developers at some point wants their game to last decades into the future.

No developer wants their game to last, and especially their publishers either.
The reason is, over time it creates competition that is hard to surpass with future developments, and if it can be modded... Oh boy it creates problems that forces them to HAVE to work hard.
Failing to do that, you will get a Cities Skylines 2 moment, or Command and Conquer series problem that EA had.

Since most of todays developers aren't on the same bandwagon as Baldurs Gate 3 developers, well making money becomes harder.
So abandoning and ensuring their old products die, giving their new product the only viable solution is beneficial for them.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Aww I see, well at least all my worries and doubt of losing my saved data is put to rest, cause that was one of my worries, that I'll be on the game and the server randomly kicks my out for maintenance or something and I lose all progress. Nonetheless I'm still learning the game, I could also see why it's meant to play multiplayer since it's taking so long to build what I have in mind but I'm a one man army kinda guy so I'll manage lol.

I notice you are everywhere at once, Mr. Dennis of SL. Hats off to that. Therefore, I will drastically restrict my attempts to help others (regardless of my competence or my incompetence). :)

There is no question of mandatory language, in the said pseudo regulation that you wrote on this Steam forum.
Tell me. Do you want to make English mandatory on your Steam forum?
I just tested the game on one of your official servers (WhiteTiger), it is in English. But for me, my game almost 95% in French, has become 3/4 in English on your server. That is to say that, depending on the areas in the game, it is in English or French... It's the box actually.
So we can't speak languages for long; but it is clear that this is the secret in what you are selling: the game.
... tanks at Google Tanslat to bad tanslat the english, i unsderstant only 60% of.. Sure, it is same in all language in all direction..

Rules for the Steam Forums
As it lately became obvious that we need a few codified rules, here they are:

1. We enforce a zero tolerance policy on discrimination, harassment, racism, sexism and all similar offences - no excuses, no second chances.
2. Disrespectful behavior, insults and personal attacks towards our (volunteer) staff or community members will not be tolerated.
3. Read the pinned posts in boards before using them and try to stick to the topic of the respective board.
4. Voice your opinion respectfully and stick to the verifyable truth.
5. Do not call out players or servers (especially their admins) for behavior you don't like - we want to keep our channels free of toxicness and public trials, often with the targets being unaware and unable to defend, doesn't fit with that.
If you got a serious complaint about a player or server (meaning a violation of our Terms of Service or other official rules), you can report players with their SLG or Steam ID and servers with their name to support@strangeloopgames.com.
Make sure you are able to provide clear and sufficient proof and state the violation that happened based on our Terms of Service or other official rules.

Please note that in opposite to most steam forums this one is actually actively moderated. Don't be surprised if your topic gets moved to a more fitting forum or closed just because you've never seen that happening elsewhere.

1. You discrimined my, for my language ? :) hummmmm it BAD ! :D
But the 1. say "not 21nd chance".
My language is not bad if it iss different.
Not accepted my languiage, it is an discrimination ? No.
Is an discrimination if you not aloxw my presnce and action here.

So.. i speak french, it is because im OFF... Is not easy to speak anlaoguage you not know.

I have asked you politely as a moderative note to use english in topics that were created in english, specifically saying you are free to open threads in french and write in french there. I also explained why that is - it is confusing and mildly disrespectful to the vast majority of participants here that is known to the english language when each of them has to use a translator separately to understand your text, which can result in different outcomes depending on which translator is used as well. You have the option, as I also said, to write your post in french, put it through a translator (DeepL is a good one) and then post the result here. Then there is a single result and noone else is required to use a translator.

There is no reason to make a thing out of it that it isn't, nor a reason to make a triple post. Following the standard internet etiquette is all I am asking for.

As for your remark in regard to the game language: The language in Eco is separated into parts controlled by the client and such controlled by the server. So when you use french in the client but join a english server all data provided by the server will be in english, while all data provided by the client is in french.
