can someone explain leveling and specilization now?

ive played this off and on since it came out but havent played since the sandstone update. before even if you didnt specialize in something you could still build to a point at a slower rate and more items. but thats gone now? you have to specialize in everything before you can build in it? please correct me if im wrong because thats how it is on my server. i understand the whole point of the game is to work as a community. but im on a server with a hundred or so people and no ones talking even and barely any one the discord. so that is completly ruining the game for me and i just want to know why

The devs in all of their wisdom have added to the skill tree and how it works and in doing so making the base game for players more complex yet also less fun. Best advice I can give is join a low collab server to be able to build how you want. Even then however you are limited now by building requirements, you can no longer have motared stone floors and the rest being wood. It must all be of a certain material and the newer the table you build the newer the material you need to build your structure out of for it to work.
The game can still be fun but if you want how it used to be the best is a low collab server and even then you may not have much fun as you'll hit road blocks for certain skills and how you used to build and play.

Word of advice tho, cooking isnt really worth it if you're doing most things solo. Focus on things like carpentry (and logging) and masonry (and mining) then basic engineering. Those skills will get you to a medieval tech level on your own and not struggling to build what you want

At least the room requirements for tiered blocks have been there since way before Steam release, so this hasn't really been any different. In the opposite, we added a lot of new blocks into the different tiers to give more variety.

no the quality is great and all the extra stuff thats been added since the lastime i played is amazing! ive put hundreds of hours into the game. its just hard to advance now unless your on a good server.
