I think you really need to specify "internet connection require" in the game store. Singleplayer is a bit of miss leading.
The reason it's this way is that there is no actual Single player, "solo play" is a server you don't allow any one to join, but still a server, and they have said they aren't going to change it.
In regard to D/L speed, you should really get a better connection. i D/L from steam at 1800mbs not my top speed, but in regard overall, either its your device or your connection. As they say "You get what You pay for"
The server can no doubt be self hosted and I would guess you could pass runtime arguments for the client to connect to it automatically without using the server browser.
Yeah, if something were to happen to the company I would hate to just have a dead game I can't play anymore. D:
that's been my point for the last 2 years at least... i used to be in military... internet is NOT always an option when deployed, but there IS a lot of down time... if the devs simply moved when the authentication server got checked, like when joining MP servers, would be less problems... should NEVER need to authenticate for solo play worlds OR the main menu IMO.. but the devs in their infinite wisdom think otherwise.. and won't change things even if it means NO one can play due to problems like ddoss attacks and other forms of web chicanery that can prevent the game authenticating.. as if loading up Steam first was NOT enough authentication either..
We also have a status page: https://status.play.eco/
We cannot use a simple Steam verification, as our authentication is not done client-side but server-side, as usualy for multiplayer games. We also have many players not using Steam for playing at all that purchased the game on our website. Steam wouldn't work with those even when authentication was done client-side. (Which doesn't work for multiplayer games, given we need to check a lot of different data for your avatars, account status and tier)
