Can we play the game Offline?
When I lunch the game offline, I get stuck on the 'main menu". There is nothing but the background city. When online the main menu appear but it take so much time to load my World. I can see i the top corner im downloading at 7 B/sec. My internet is too slow to play any game online.

Can we play offline or the game is only online even if we create a solo world ?

Really sad day, great game but i need to refund it.

I think you really need to specify "internet connection require" in the game store. Singleplayer is a bit of miss leading.

Been saying that for years.

The reason it's this way is that there is no actual Single player, "solo play" is a server you don't allow any one to join, but still a server, and they have said they aren't going to change it.

I was curious about this a while back, but the game is intended to be a community game. all working together. solo mode works against this. try rust. solo is fun and challenging on that title.

Whats the problem with running your own server, even on the machine You play on. Seriously what you have a Celeron with integrated graphics ?

In regard to D/L speed, you should really get a better connection. i D/L from steam at 1800mbs not my top speed, but in regard overall, either its your device or your connection. As they say "You get what You pay for"

technically you can PLAY offline.. but sadly you need to be online to load into the map/world.. for that matter the game requires internet to even show the menu in main splash screen as it connects with an auth server.. always seemed a backwards method as the auth server can be contacted WHEN you enter a multi-player server... and as Kryzzk said, the devs have ZERO plans to change how it currently works.. even though this makes it hard to exit when NO menu shows up cuz your offline... and i even made an argument about service persons who want to play the game while deployed but have no net... no dice there either..

Hopefully they see this "back-end server" issue as a learning opportunity and implement a complete offline mode.

The server can no doubt be self hosted and I would guess you could pass runtime arguments for the client to connect to it automatically without using the server browser.

Yeah, if something were to happen to the company I would hate to just have a dead game I can't play anymore. D:

I'm getting almost the same issue, only that I have no problems with my Internet... downloading a server is MEGA slow for no reason

Just my two cents here, but the issue with online only games like this, is when I am in a place where internet is not available, or like what happens 4-5 times a month with xfinity, I am without internet for several days throughout the month, it is nice to actually be able to play a game I purchased.

that's been my point for the last 2 years at least... i used to be in military... internet is NOT always an option when deployed, but there IS a lot of down time... if the devs simply moved when the authentication server got checked, like when joining MP servers, would be less problems... should NEVER need to authenticate for solo play worlds OR the main menu IMO.. but the devs in their infinite wisdom think otherwise.. and won't change things even if it means NO one can play due to problems like ddoss attacks and other forms of web chicanery that can prevent the game authenticating.. as if loading up Steam first was NOT enough authentication either..
Steam API dll exists for the very purpose of making sure I own the game. That I can't play offline or on my local machine for a game I own because an online service is down is a problem in itself. That the communication about the incident seems lacking is another issue: it has been going on and off for some days it seems, how about a status page on the website? That way we'd see active outages and outage duration, at the very least.

We do actively communicate issues live on Discord: https://discord.gg/eco
We also have a status page: https://status.play.eco/

We cannot use a simple Steam verification, as our authentication is not done client-side but server-side, as usualy for multiplayer games. We also have many players not using Steam for playing at all that purchased the game on our website. Steam wouldn't work with those even when authentication was done client-side. (Which doesn't work for multiplayer games, given we need to check a lot of different data for your avatars, account status and tier)

How is this relevant? Just give us offline mode. I can't even play solo anymore because of this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ update.

An explanation about why this is happening is not the same as a justification of it. If you as a company decided to take this approach, it's fine as long as you keep up and handle the authentification. The problem comes when you don't as has been happening quite often recently, preventing us from using the product we purchased.
