How do I build a bridge?

I've goit a nice spot next to a river, far far below my bluff, and I'd like to get to the other side which is level with my side.

Walk to the edge and try to place it adjacent to the block you're standing on. That's currently the only way.

Prepare to fall a lot.

Yeah but what is "it"?

Can't make a bridge with dirt as it will need to fill in the valley to the floor and just make a wall across. Are bridge panels actually a thing in the game?

Any "construction material"-type block should work. Hewn logs, mortared stone, or any of the higher-tech stuff you place with a hammer.

hi city builder you can use the /fly code if you are admin to make the bridge

Not needed, but good to know. I did fall off the bridge and had to swim in the canyon for a really long distance until I found a way out, unfortunately it was on the opposite side, and I ran out of hewn logs to reach what I'd already built. But by manipulating them carefully I was finally able to get a one path wide bridge to go to the other side and pick up more logs to finish the job.
