How to build roofs?

Loving the game so far but I've never really quite understood how roofs are built. I just shift click with my hammer and its only wall that doesn't touch the edge and full block.

Skill more in the Construction Skill of the Material you want to use.

in the meantime temporarily use foundations as a roof until you can make the real roof

Everything is researched in wood but its not showing up in the shift menu. Where are they built?

Research and skill are different, research is the books and scrolls from the research table, skills are skill points in the jobs/skills menu

Put points into hewn construction

I'm having the same problem as Esela, I have maxed my skills in Hewing and used foundations as roofing but there is a gap and the tables still say they are not in a room...Is there anything else I need to do. I have the masonry table as the only room required table atm.

There is a research required in the Research table, research it then put pooints into the new unlock.

I can't use the research table because the "roof" won't connect to the walls to create a room..

Dont build the Roof at the side of the Wall, build it on top of the Wall.
