i dont have time to fill a SP world with a highway network, not to mention those ramps look ugly as hell.
This is not minecraft.
with the roads my issue is two fold, aesthetic and environmental, but secondary to above. time investment must satisfy my OCD i have taken great time to move dirt and smooth dodgy looking cliff edges, and make pathways around my village.
but covering the map with roads for the sake of getting a log cart nearer not so much value in that on SP mode for example i dont even need to deforest the closest area to me to cope with the demand for wood compared to online groups of 50+
i dont really require a road network in effect, but the ability to carry more benefits more. the log cart benefit for me alone is just to achieve 2 less trips to the same location, as too would be the ability to carry 40logs
im with you guys. really, as a soloist i 100% get where you are coming from.. BUT.. show me a human walking at normal speed while carrying nearly an entire tree or 2-3 tons of rocks. you are essentially asking to be thor or the hulk, and this aint that kind of game.
the cart should be designed to be more useful (and keep from falling off things) for example making it longer with bigger wheels would make it able to go up or down 1 block and possibly carry more things. you would also think the bigger backpacks would allow for more storage spaces but for whatever reason they dont.
if you WERE thor or the hulk you could simply jump/fly into the meteor and smash it. it would save ALOT of busy work and defeat the purpose of making the game in the first place.
to go up 2 whole blocks? i mean considering how much space they take up i dont find them especially useful anyways. if my cart is going to have issues it is 100% going to have issues going up or down a ramp. and if my cart has issues any time "saved" by using a cart and making ramps is pretty much negated.
then change their current size. they should have an "advantage" not be something you have to construct a maze of to get from point a to point b.
know what would fit perfectly with the educational nature of the game? FECKIN RAILINGS! yea, lets teach them about SAFETY by putting railings (like i see on ever wheel chair accessible ramp i have ever seen) ON the ramps so the cart doesnt get its wheel jammed between the ramp and the terrain or fall off it entirely! THAT is my biggest gripe with ramps after all. even better lets deploy pulleys and make it so you can use them to pull multiple carts at a time instead of just 1 like a cave man. you could also use sleds instead of carts.. i digress.
if you were to haul a cart of stone in our "real" world up a hill would you BUILD a ramp? no, because a hill is already a ramp. we live in a world of very few naturally occurring right angles.
