Room Tier issue
I need some guidance/tips please.
I have been struggling with this for far to wrong and I must be missing something obvious.

I build a kitchen out of Tier 2 materials. See images below from outside and inside from opposite corners:

I cannot, for the life of me, get the room tier to 1.8
It sits just short between 1.77 and I even got it to 1.79.
What I have tried:

1. Remove certain blocks and re-add them. This is also weird because when I do this, that value fluctuates between 1.75 - 1.79 every time I do this.
2. Changed window types from brick, lumber and even normal glass...again the number moves around.
3. Removed the 2 wide door entrances (with the ladders) and replaced them with single lumber doors...no effect.
4. Removed the stockpiles I had against the outside of the house. I had one for wood next to it...again no effect.

I am at a loss, so not sure if anyone has any ideas what I could try next?

In the second image, is that angle roof I see from the inside? that is most likely the issue. Unless they have a solid block on the flat surfaces, you'll have "empty corner block" in the tier list.

Cursor over the tier level in the lower right corner for the room. See what it reads. If you see any "empty corner block", do as I mentioned above to fix them. it's an unmentioned problem when using angle roof blocks.

Singular angled roofs do not count as finishing a room, as the room feature also checks for diagonal air in determining if something is closed. You can work around that by making diagonal roofs two blocks thick or by just placing a flat roof below. While this does work as intended, we plan to revisit that later in development.

I never said it wasn't working as intended. It's just not something that is mentioned in a tool tip or on the Eco Wiki.

Ok great...thanks for the notes. I will try it later today. Think I will add an attic and see what it says!

I was actually answering the OP directly, hence wasn't in any relation to your post at all. Sorry if that wasn't clear.

If you build the floor of the attic above the rafters you have going across the room, it will solve your problem for the kitchen itself. However it won't change the problem in the newly made General room of the attic from being lower tier due to the diagonal "empty corner block" as SLG-Dennis mentioned as well.

Thanks, that makes sense. I will use the attic as storage area only.

You might also check the bottom of the walls to make sure they are resting on Brick/Lumber, rather than dirt, since those edges and corners are also blocks that count as part of the room boundary. If you see any "dirt - Tier zero" (or sandstone, etc) in the block list when you hover over the room tier readout, that is likely where the problem is.

Basically you will always need a full rectangle, e.g. diagonals need to be filled.

This isn't the issue in his case. If you look close enough at all three pics, the floor is all brick, even under the walls.

Thanks for all the feedback. Building an attic sorted the issue out which covered the "gaps" just fine...I use the attic for storage which works great.
I actually did not know that you get more info hovering over the tier indicator...helped a lot!

Eco has a lot of useful information in its tooltips, always worth to check those out.
