Where can I find the gold mine?

I can't find the gold mine. Where is the gold mine?

Gold spawns in the rainforest biome, 40-70 blocks below the surface. I would suggest finding the side of a large hill, counting down to around 50 and digging into it, using the drill to see which direction you should be going. Doing this for copper, I spent only about an hour and a half looking for a vein.

By "surface" I reckon it's the actual surface from where you dig from, or is it from "ocean surface"?
I gave up after 3 hours of digging in Rainforest..

It's the naturally generated surface, not water level.
