Game won't update
Just reinstalled this game and I'm getting a disk write error when I try to update the game. This is the only game that won't update and I've tried all the usual things to get it to work. So basically anything that steam advises to do I've done it and nothing is working. Please help!

If you do have any antivirus software aside of Windows Defender, make sure that Eco is correctly exempted from measures or try to turn it off and see what happens. Installation is done by Steam, as Eco works portable and just needs the files present. Alternatively you could try to download the SLG Client from our website by linking your Steam account to a play.eco account and downloading the client.

So I ran a repair on Windows itself after it was giving me an error copying the files from play.eco out of the archive file. This solved the problem it wasn't steam or the files themselves.

Ah, interesting, will keep that in mind for future such cases as well. Glad you could get it solved and thanks for actually getting back to us and sharing your solution :)

I'm also getting a disk write error. I tried uninstalling and trying a different drive and it still fails with disk write error. I think it has to do with the latest update.

Please try what I wrote in my first post in this topic, Eco itself is not involved in these errors.

Check your anti-virus too I made an exception with mine amongst everything else so if you tried everything else, try this too.

Yes, either disabling AV prior to updating/running or adding exception fixes it. I think the latest update must have caused AV to mark the executable as suspicious.

We are getting marked on every update, as we don't have the resources (nor the will, tbh) to pay us into each of the antivirus softwares whitelists that prevent that from happening and all we contacted have been uncooperative aside of the offer to buy us into that. It typically goes away after a while on it's own for most of them as well. (Alternatively you can report false positives to them, that also helps)

It's one of the many reasons I personally don't recommend to use anything else than Windows Defender, you just don't need it and they more often mess with things than doing good.

Avast Free Antivirus put the ECO.exe into quarantine. (IDP.Generic)

Just check your anti-virus quarantine settings and uncheck eco.exe

E-Set hasn't complained about Eco for me since I've been playing it.
