Ordered hewn logs but made hardwood hewn logs

I am using oak, can they only be made into hardwood?
I had cut down a mix of trees and then the hewn logs and hardwood hewn logs did not play nicely with each other and that's when I realised the workbench had automatically changed it.

This was a recent change annoyingly. The hardwood and softwood hewn log craft options were removed and now you automatically make the type that matches the log you used. This wasn't done for lumber do it only effects tier 1 building

You can select the type of Hewn Logs you want with the gear icon, didn't that work?

As SKG-Dennis said.. If you check the little gear icon to the right of the button, you'll select type.. Hope it worked..

It works. Some people just don't know about it or thought they used it when they didn't.

I click the little cog icon, select "Hewn Logs" but it only makes one at a time.
I delete that work order and set the number to 25, then click the cog icon again and it resets the number to 1.
I try selecting "Hewn Logs" THEN set the number to 25 and start work, it defaults back to Hewn Softwood.

This quality of life update is really reducing my quality of life.

You have to select how many you want first, then click the cog, then select the type you want. All recipes with multiple output types work like this.

Thank you soo much @DeadMechGaming.... this was super annoying as I was single crafting Hardwoord Hewn Logs for about an hour before I looked this up...
