Water Turning pink?
I truly dont understand how its doing this. On the global map when I check mark air or ground pollution, nothing is dark nor light. The water all over the globe is light pink color. Now I have been reading some old posts but idk if they are relevant are not, so ill just ask here.

Just in case you are wondering if im using waste filters and yes. I just started with just one, ran it with iron pipe (let me know if i have to use copper or steel pipes) hooked up with electric water pump and it works and getting compost. Says it can be used for farming but not turning into sewage unless its after filtering but idk if one water filter cleans 100% of waste so I made 8 waste filters to see if any changes to the water and still turning pink.

One of the posts said compost can pollute but if it did would it say it did? So im at a loss of what it could be, if the global map says or "shows" no pollution, then why is the water pink? BTW the tailing are 40 plus below the ground and not much to do any harm.

10 points who can guess it right.

What are you filtering with the waste filter? What are you using to power the waste filter? what are you using to power the electric pump?

Im using oil refineries and blast furnaces. Wind turbines to power the pumps. It would say if there is no power and you can see them pump. Filter show all green check marks.

Blast Furnaces, Cement Kilns, Oil Refinery and Steam/Combustion Engines (the power generators) all produce Smog. The Air Pollution created by these can cause ground and water pollution if exposed by to high an amount even for a few hours of production. Water turns a shade of pink or orange, plant life turned a dingy grey and eventually disappears.

The water coming out of the Waste Filter is not clean water, despite what it says or you may think. The output water pipe from a Waste Filter needs to be dealt with like Tailings and taken to level 30 or below to avoid ground pollution.

This is the consist water being pink/orange answer. The other possible reason depends on the time of day and placement of the sun during "planetary rotation". If it is sunrise or sunset, there is a change the water gains the same pink/orange hue like a the horizon in real life at these times of day.

My eyes must be totally broken, I do never see a pink or orange hue, but a brown one, as intended. A reddish one can happen at specific sun positions, but I don't identify that as pink or orange either. *goes cleaning glasses*

So can we deem this the new The Dress [en.wikipedia.org] ? :)

Well I was going to take a few screenshots just now, but all the water turned crystal clear again. When you said the time of day may have changed the effect of the hue color I was getting convinced that might be it. So I changed the command to noon and morning and evening in the game and the color did not change. Once I start running the oil rigs and furnaces again Ill take a screenshot of the water again. Idk why, it seems when the water pump sucks water out is where it starts showing pink. I ran an output pipe from the waste filter further down and made a well. Ill test it more but no matter what I do, Pink water always appear out of nowhere.

One thing I have notice but am confused by is.... Pump Jacks have an output pipe location but don't have a Pipe tab. I wonder if SLG-Dennis can comment on the reason for the pipe output. It makes me think that is a future feature yet smoothed out, or is the missing tab just a mistake and it's actually a polluted output.
Merix Style 22 jul, 2021 @ 17:49
Im hoping your wrong about that. If I had to guess if pumping oil, than it would be oil pumping out into the pipeline (if the feature will be added later). But then again if you were right also being another pollution than what type would it be? It dont need water to pump into the jack so the output would only be oil itself.
stlyau 22 jul, 2021 @ 19:22
That's what I'm getting at. There's no explanation atm that I can come up with for why the pump jack has that output location, as currently the pump jack outputs the full barrels to a stockpile. I'm gonna keep watching my pumpjacks as I placed a Solar Generator over there now in place of the Steam Engine. So the only pollution maker there atm is the Oil Refinery. If I don't make anything with it, the pollution should clear and then I'm gonna just queue up the pump jacks and see what happens.

You do realize that the oil refineries and blast furnaces produce air pollution. which then settles down to the ground and creates ground pollution. And if you close to water it will turn water faster.

That I kind of do get which trees are absorbing the co2. The smog should be seen in the air right? But if it is to much the water would be colored brown as they said it would so what makes it pink? I just started cutting edge cooking and see if im polluting at all right now. Still learning as I go.
Ruges 22 jul, 2021 @ 20:45
ohh your doing cooking too? your stoves also pollute.
Merix Style 22 jul, 2021 @ 20:52
Thats true, but im doing one trade at a time, like I do metal stuff a day, than cooking, than farming, then wood working and so on. I just unlocked the cutting edge so it was the laboratory which also pollutes in the water but not in the air so I hooked up a waste filtering system I have and see if its just the liquid doing it or the air as you claim and then I will find the answer.

In this picture you can see a very little bit of pollution in the lake. just a slight color change.

In this picture you can see ground pollution. While its pretty obvious that the top left is high pollution. But if you did not see that pollution in the top left you probably would not notice that it actually extends halfway into the lake

It does not take much to change to color of water. And with all that said, you really dont have to worry to much about pollution. The only real thing you need to do is keep it away from your farmland, including your treefarms. Besides that, it actually takes allot of effort to really pollute the world to the point of raising the temp/ocean. Unless you are trying really hard. Or have allot of people playing. Your not really going to affect the world other then whats immediately around you.
Merix Style 22 jul, 2021 @ 21:41
So that is not from the waste filter?
