Tools keep moving/swinging after you stop clicking
I've noticed since the most recent 9.4 update I have a lot of issues, mostly with my pickaxe, that it keeps "swinging" and by doing that it often breaks another block I didn't intend to mine.
Also the new hammer is so insanely fast and keeps swinging that I sometimes remove 1-2 tiles more than intended. Is there a way to instantly stop your tool from working after you let go of your left mouse button?

I second this. 9 out of 10 times, when I pick up a cart with the hammer, I pick up the road underneath it as well...

this bug again...

its evolving, just backwards

This works as intended, you're not supposed to hold until the end.

We will investigate how we can improve this for Update 9.5, but with the current backend code it wasn't possible to do it differently, the change was needed though, as it fixes several other annoying issues and a few exploits.

Please nontheless continue to give feedback in relation to it here, so we can see how many people actually hold until the end of an animation and hence are affected. Most people seem to just do clicks, so it was deemed acceptable, especially as you can retrain.

I know it should ultimately support any way of doing it, but for this Update that wasn't possible.

No, this is actually one of the many things fixed with this change, until now it was possible to interrupt animations so you could do up to 4x the actions in the time of what was intended for a single one.

even with only clicking I get 2 action.

I was chaning roofcubes to floors, left click to pickup and then right click to put it down, only to see it get pickup again.

I have tried this, but cannot reproduce it. Are you able to provide more details?

Best I can think of is that some of us is older and/or have older/cheaper mouses, so the time betweeen buttondown and buttonup event may be a little longer.

it's an absolute cringe idea that the player should adjust themselves to a dev that can't fix a simple "no button pressed, action should be stopped"-function
the way this game tries to push "realism" is starting to become ridiculous and doesn't even make sense in a lot of ways as it counteracts intuitive controls and common sense

don't try to justify some bad mechanic by saying "you get used to it", if you get into an abusive relationship where you get beaten everyday you might also say

but it's still a bad thing and cringy to try and push a statement like that

point being it was all fine before the last update, the same with the garbage new cart controls, there was no reason/demand to change it and yet they did
SLG-Dennis  [developer] Aug 23, 2021 @ 11:00pm
Well, I said that we acknowledge that ultimately it should work fine for every way you might want to use and we'll take a look to further improve this in 9.5, but for now that was unfortunately not possible. Depending on how complicated the fix is, as many of these require big refactors, it can also be possible that improvements come with an Update before 9.5.

But in general this is a change that felt good for many people, as it fixes several other shenanigans and the negative feedback we have received about this is quite limited, be that because most people do not hold or because people could adapt very fast - that does not mean it is not a problem, it is. But it unfortunately does mean that it is a problem that has a different priority to other problems.

I think a problem I experienced is related.
If I have e.g. the hammer equipped and go out of a menu (e.g. of a station) by the x button, the hammer will swing and pick up whatever I surely don't want to be picked up. It is sooo frustrating.
EuroFighter1200 Aug 24, 2021 @ 8:10am
i have problems with it too. If i leave a menu from a shop or a workbench and have the hammer selectet it swings it and then picking up a block or a working station. I usally hold the button why just click hold is much more easy and comfortable. Same with other tools to.

That is a separate issue, I have logged it on our tracker.
EuroFighter1200 Aug 24, 2021 @ 11:26am
