Farming and Soil Nutrients
Will soil nutrients come back overtime or do you HAVE TO use fertilizers?

You can press M for map and go to world layers -> plants -> then the plant you are curious about, to see where their yield is best.

Different plants require more than just soil nutrients, you have to use the temperature and their natural biome to your advantage.

yea i've noticed a decline in yield potential and i also cross-referenced the soil nutrients because it used to be white (really high yield) and now it's light red...and also the different soil nutrients for the area are all somewhere between purple and red...so i feel like the decline has to do with soil nutrients, which is why I was wondering if the nutrients came back overtime or not.

No, that's what fertilizers are for.

Hello,

Is the fertilizer specialty really necessary for a 7-8 player game over two months?

My answer is.... Meh, not really. Even farming would be a pain tbh. One dedicated cook is PLENTY for that many people, if playing on med to low collab. Not sure about high, haven't tried it. Whenever you get a lvl 4 upgrade in the butchery table, you will have enough food for the entire time. Butchery and Campfire Cooking would be fine.

Honestly the butchery table is way OP lol.

It takes about a week to deplete a farms soil to below optimal nutrients if planting max # of plants at nearly every growth cycle. After that you have to fertilize or make a new farm in another preferred area.

Nutrients will slowly regain over time. But it never goes up to 100%, just what it was prior to farming on it after a couple of days. Fertilizer is important if u want to keep that yield high. And it all depends on crops, some draw more nutrients, some draw less. If you make more floors of the farm, in the same plot of claim, it'll also increase the draw. And the minimum requirement of nutrient for said crop would then also rise acoordingly.

A developer literally said in this very discussion that, and I quote, "No, that's what fertilizers are for". So no, nutrients will not regain over time.
