How to Fish for Pacific Sardine?

Its the only fish i cannot find! ive used to data layers on the map, placed fish traps in rivers and attempted to use to fishing pole which is buggy and unreliable and still have not located a pacific sardine. Has anyone had any luck???

Pacific sardines currently can only be caught by bow and arrow due to a bug.

I want to point out, and this is nearly a year alter, that my sister DID fish up Pacific Sardine on 8/20/22 in our public server, NoLag

In 9.5 they fixed the Fishing Rod and catching Pacific Sardines was made possible again. This was said by a dev on official Eco Discord.

Unfortunately it returned and has a fix coming for it.

How is the fix going? I can't see any sardines in the waters, can't even shoot them with a bow

The fishing rod has to my knowledge been working since 9.6.x (edit: in regards to catching all possible fish ) as for why you cant see them in water is likely due to their size as well as LOD's based on your view range settings.

same issue here. Can't see this specific fish. We get all of them, but not Pacific Sardine.

They are very small and hard to spot. Look for areas that have a Pacific Sardine population greater than 0, then go there and swim around looking for tiny, inconspicuous fish.

Its really tiny. Like 1/6 size of base fish

This is still by and large the most annoying thing to find, the fact that they don't show up in Fish Traps is still broken. The fishing unplugged mod allows you to farm them at least, big QOL update there. FIX THE GAME already. Even on large view ranges, they only "pop" in when you're super close to them, like Jellyfish, only making them even harder to get. At least they have high value because of how ridiculous it is to get them!

Kind of. There's an upper limit to what people are willing to pay for food and the Sensuous Sea Pizza becomes prohibitively expensive due to the sardines.
