Is fishing broken?

Hello-
I have tried fishing recently without success. I heard some noise in the forum about fishing being broken.

On the other hand, there is a player on one of my worlds selling fish. So is fishing working or not? Fishing poles? Traps?

Since the 9.0 update came out, I've been able to fish using fishing pole and traps. I've got a few fishes with the pole but it's not that easy. Realistically, there need to be a fish where you throw it to have a chance (different from previous versions). Traps do catch somes fishes too, but it can take hours or even days. It looks like some places are better than others.

Finally, I haven't done it a lot, so I can only speak as for my small experience.

Thanks. My sense at this point is that it is not really worth the effort. There are so many other food sources which can be more easily harvested.

I think I can help here. Best way of using fishing rod is to swim with it and pull it across all fishes you see. pull them out all and move to another area. I was using bow but fishing rod was more efficient that way.
The problem is there is no lure that would alow fishes to find you instead of you looking for exact hitbox for the fish.

The real problem is that fishing only nets you raw fish in the end, which only has a total of 2 recipes associated with it. I think fishing should be expanded upon and be it's own specialization in the Hunter skill line and have much more recipes to cook with, maybe have lures for different types of fish, etc.

fishes should be left as decoration only and while fishing it should hook up randomly or depends on lure you use. hunting fishes with bow is not convincing me at all.
But let's be honest, those animals will never be so dynamic as in ARK.
