Combustion generator chimney

I wanted to use my first combustion generator, but unfortunately I can not add a pipe to the chimney to conduct the exhaust gases outside. On the status tab it is shown that I have failed "Chimney pipe must have only one open end, outside of all rooms, and above object"
Is there a special pipe for it? I tried already the iron pipes.

You are putting the pipe at the top in the middle of the generator correct? There is a pipe there that you connect to for the exhaust. If you have it outside, only need one pipe added. If inside a building or underground, that pipe can't be longer than 10 tiles from the generator to the outside world.

Still an issue all this time later. Chimney will not snap a pipe onto it. You have to build backwards. Start from your intended end exhaust point and go back towards the combustion generator to force the generator to take a pipe connection on top of the chimney output. Since the entire construction system is a snap-to-grid type of system, it should recognize a pipe on top of the connection point one grid above the chimney.
