Why do you call it a meteor? A more accurate term would be asteroid...
The solo progression path will be pretty important by the time you get to the 8th or 10th skill point. I just finally got butchery after a full 24 hours of play! (crazy issue with not seeing rabbits...nightmare) It's required to get tailoring, which is in-turn required to get bricklaying which you'll need to progress your house so you can progress to other skills at the fastest possible rate. I should move along fairly well after I get brick laying done but that's going to be probably another few days of play before I reach that point! So soloable in the short term, sure. How it plays out late in the game, I'm waiting to find out too!
I highly highly recommend you go with multiplayer so you do not have to wear a thousand hats.
Thanks for the messages and the advice guys :)
Is it that large?
...
So, regarding the single player aspect... basically the game content is optimized for multiplayer? I was thinking if I should buy it or not and I looked and found this thread.
Often multiplayer people give as argument to the single-player fans the argument "You know you can play SP too" :)
Truth is some games are equally good in both SP and MP. But having friends with you is always fun. The sad part is when they do not want to play the game you choose... :)
In the meantime as mentioned the first 6 or so levels are okay with normal rates, after that it's takes ages to acquire a new level. What you can do is increase the Skillrate for a time. You should not craft or do anything while doing so, because the Speciality Levels are bound to that as well and their rates are okay even as Singleplayer.
After my first 7 levels I wasn't willing to wait more that 24 hours realtime so I set the rate for a time so high that I got most of the required points upfront. I used the following command:
Press Enter to open Chat
Enter "/skillrate 50000"
After several minutes you jump from level 6 or 7 to 20 just watch and stop when you want to maybe with a lower value.
Enter "/skillrate 2" (the default) to reset the rate
You still need to unlock every skill with research, farm and grind resources which is quite a lot alone for all, but you can get the speciality right away just need to attain speciality levels, which are okay with normal settings. This makes playing solo more enjoyable (and feasable). I wished I knew that at the beginning than I would started it right before heading off into the world.
I've been reading so much about the game that makes it sound unplayable in single player.
Mhh im not sure if i remember it right.,..but in the "old Eco" was the same with the configs...but there it was no collab...but with the new skillsystem im not sure...is it only a visual bug...or is the server on Medium? The Gain of the stars is very slow for me...too slow :/
