Greenhouses... can we make one?
I'm wondering if it's possible to ever make a greenhouse for this game, a greenhouse to help accelerate and grow crops outside of their own environment, similar to stardew valley minus the accelerated growth part.

Farming is a difficullt part of this game, and it's hard to make something grow properly when the system is convulted as all hell and your character is litterly starving to death. How does one make a proper farm? greenhouses seem to be the key to make things a bit easier.

We don't have greenhouses quite yet but it's something that the devs have discussed on adding in the future.

Hopefully sooner then later because farming is difficult right now expectually on areas you planned to build buildings and don't to walk too far to find the right kind of soul to grow your food.

Combined with 'overcrowded' plants it takes huge quantities of land to farm any reasonable amount of food.

Greenhouses are not currently planned, but could be back on the table when we work on the farming revamp.

after playing the game the first thing is farming is a real pain and extremely frustrating. Greenhouses would be amazing too. i could see a beautiful farm with lots of greenhouses

Why can't it be as simple as, if plants are inside a building/room and the building is mostly made up of glass or the advanced glass building material, then the plants grow regardless of the location/climate. And if they want to, make the plants grow a little quicker, like 15% boost or something like that. That seems pretty easy to implement, that way we can build our own greenhouses to the style we want. instead of a pre-made greenhouse building we may or may not like the design of. Or even better, add greenhouse glass building material to the glassmaking profession, making the profession even better, since it is still kind of barebones.

Because game development is never easy and it's not currently the turn for work on farming - plus Greenhouses simply not being planned currently. Your idea is nice, but if we introduce it, it would be more sophisticated than that to make it realistic.

It's still better to make the large field and suffer the overcrowded in a temperature range close enough to the crop's range than having to run all over the place collecting wild. Once you get the steam tractor and it's attachment modules, farming becomes rather easy. Making seeds gets much cheaper with better modules in the Farming Table, so lower demand on needs to replant most crops and more profit for food production. Up to the point you get the Steam Tractor, I agree it can be a little harder to farm larger fields but you still can plow with the Hand Plow. The only part I dislike the is speed at which the wild plants respawn on freshly tilled soil, making it so you have to use a hoe before you can plant the seeds on some of the new tilled soil.

Overcrowding does not have an effect on plants you planted yourself.

I'll have to agree that "overcrowded" doesn't effect it's grow time as much as it's supposed to. Bush crops like Pineapples, Huckles and Tomatoes were all re-harvestable in 9.6hrs while everything else was ready in the 19.2hrs it takes to grow to full maturity. I do maybe disagree with yield being effected. I might be remembering wrong if I planted the Wheat on last server in a sub-optimal (full 100%) area, but most of the field was only giving 4 on harvest with the perk while rest of the field was giving 7 per.

There is no need for disagreement: Overcrowding does NOT affect player-planted plants AT ALL. It was disabled a few updates ago and is only valid for natural spawned plants now.
