Heaps of annoying Tailings and small worlds
I played the game for a decent bit now allready and I have to say that the Tailings system is an absolute idiotic thing. The game trailer shows that u can go the Eco friendly way but if u even wanna make as much as one Iron U will get one tailings. What are u supposed to do with them as they cannot be removed or properly neutralized as it kinda says u can do when holding mouse above the. Well from what i seen from other players U need to go atleast 15+ underneath water surface and always be minimum of 10 blocks away from water then u can put down a stockpile and store them on that far into the ground. Now when that one is full (that will happen WAY to quickly) You will need to make a new stockpile but according to what i found out the next stockpile needs to be 10blocks again away from the first one and also not be close to water... And even when storing tailings properly they will never dissapear. M and a bunch of friends had bearly unlocked Concrete and similar stuff and I personally had allready gone through 5stockpiles of tailings. Fix this ♥♥♥♥, this is absolutely a ♥♥♥♥ system for pollution. ANYTHING can be properly neutralized in the real world unless we are talking nuclear waste. And Slag from Melting Iron isnt very polluting or hard to get rid of. Atleast make the Filter if connected to the Blast furnace make it so it wont produce tailings anymore. Or atleast give us an admin command to completely remove that ♥♥♥♥ stuff from the game. Any other pollution I'm okay with so far. But the tailings is just something that kinda destroys the game atm.

As for the other thing now that iv'e ranted for long enough, The worlds are too small. You are basiclly playing on islands and not "continents". Please give us the choice to have either bigger maps or less ocean. It takes bearly a minute to run/swim across the entire planet...
Otherwise i love the game. The grind is long but i like it :D except for the possebility to move only one dirt/clay at a time until u get Fing far into the tech. that sucks xD

What Gets me is in life we can house this stuff in sealed containers like barrels for stuff of this level, nuclear waist on the other hand can only be stored in flasks that are double hulled and can remain airtight after a train hits them, but those are for transport only as there quite big. the fact we can't make plastic barrels to store tailings in that takes the same space but stops leaking would fit well with the game I think. add an option of renewable plastic and there you go, metal barrels would work but would need to be so cheap to offset the metal making them to have the crafted amount hold more tailings than is created to make them in the first place, and then theres the argument the would rust and still leek anyway. plastic basicly lasts forever(part of a problem with dealing with it in life)and give another use for it

The system is so broken

Stockpiles do pollute if there is air above them, they need to be covered.
Vehicles polluting is a fix to an obvious exploit.

How wide is the max. area of pollution from tailings when you store them on the ground?

My favourite discovery was that for every tonne of aluminium, between one and one-and-a-half tonnes of bauxite tailings is produced.

Everyone who's complaining about how the amount of tailings in the game is unrealistic clearly doesn't know the reality.

That needs to be noted in the wiki.

The wiki is player-maintained. If you want it in the wiki, you're free to put it in.

Just getting back into ECO, last time I played we buried tailings in a stockpile surrounded by stone... not sure if this still works since stone is not just stone anymore.

Tailings aren't realistic in the slightest in ECO, they're solely to be a nuisance and that's a bad thing. Hence why so many mods existed to flat out get rid of them, or craft them into concrete, stone, asphalt, even dirt, like they would be in real life. I understand that ECO was to be an educational game too, and this portrayal of ore washed tailings is wrong. Tailings are a rock and mud byproduct from washing ore, its not radioactive or anything. I don't get why it acts as such in the game. Huge mining dredgers spat this stuff out the back of them after digging up lake beds and washing it for gold and it just goes right back on the ground to grow trees, grass and shrubs on it again, in essence, this is the current type of ore washing that's in the game at version 9.0.5 at the time of writing this comment.

Its not radioactive, it's pollution modeled in a way that you can see it.

So to make a small hatchet that weighs a kilogram or two you roughly fill a small stockpile of tailings...
hmm....

There should definitely be another storage solution that is a bit easier or better looking for miners. But also: once you get better tech, Blast Furnace, you make less tailings but now produce pollution.

It is good if the community works to get a Blast Furnace together, as they can all collectively make less tailings, you can basically pipe the sludge deep underground.
