Eco
Server config for a non 24/7 game (growth rate etc) ?
Hi guys :)
I'm trying to tweak some config of the Eco server to reproduce a classic gameplay on a server that will only be online like 6hours a day. So i tried to change the time mult to 4 so in 6hours players wiil earn as much skill points as if i had it on 24h a day, but there is still some problems.
Time scale dont affect plant and tree grow so it take 4 time as much day to make them grow.. So i tried to change "MaxGrowthRate" from 0,01 to 0,04 on every species. I'm not sur if it's making them growing ffaster but i hope so.
Finally i reduce by 4 time the number of day before meteor disaster.
Anyway, did you guys found a better configuration for thoos who don't have the possibility to host 24/7 but would like to play the game the same way as if so?
Thank a lot :smiley:

First of all, plant growth times are set by "MaturityAgeDays" in EcoSim.eco (in the server settings). The number displayed there is the amount of time in REAL days.
So 4.0 for birch trees means 4 entire days for growing a birch tree of server online time. Wheat takes 0.7 days, which is 16.8 hours. For those who are playing this game in single player or non-24/7 servers, these growth times are way too long.

I've divided the times for my single player game by 16. That means that a birch takes 6 hours (0.25 days) of playtime to grow, wheat seeds take slightly over an hour (0.44 days).
If those settings are too small for you, because you idle a lot or the server is sometimes running in the background, you are free to change the divisor.

Keep in mind that if you are going to change those settings, you have to change them for every line in EcoSim.eco. If you want however, I can upload my server config (divisor=16) for you.

I haven't changed the settings for animals though since I don't hunt very often. Keep those in mind when editing the different lines and you don't want an overpopulation.

By the way, for difficulty settings I've set up following settings for single player:
"SpecialtyCostMultiplier": 1.0,
"SkillGainMultiplier": 4.0,
"SkillPointsPerAction": 0.004,
"SkillPointsPerCrafttime": 0.005

This makes the game very challenging, but I like to be very active in order to gain skill points.

I hope that helps you out.

@ ichbinsinaction Is the offer of an upload still available?

In my opinion, these values should be more easily configurable in server settings. Add a global growth multiplier, or better yet, individual growth multipliers for various groups - trees, plants, grass, animals - similar to the skill multiplier.

I uploaded it to file-upload.net: https://www.file-upload.net/download-13321436/EcoSim.eco.html
If you download it, click on the "Download" icon with the cloud symbol on it. The other buttons are just ads. You should get a "EcoSim.eco", if it's a weird .exe, delete it and try again.

To use it, you go to your steam library and then to \steamapps\common\Eco\Eco_Data\Server\Configs
There, you backup your old EcoSim.eco (rename it) and paste the downloaded file. Restart your server and it should work.

No warranty that they haven't changed anything, but I hope it helps.

Thanks, but the links been removed... I've edited my own now anyway.

I see, links are not allowed. The only option would be to post the entire config file in text form...
Good to see that you edited it on your own. With ctrl+F you can always find the passage you want to edit.
