Eco
ECO, is it worth a buy? Is it?
I have had this in my wishlist for some time now. From the past vids I have watched, it seemed to be a title worth watching out for. Now that its here, what does the unbiased, neutral survival community think of ECO? Is it worth a buy? Is it?

Is it online multiplayer only?
Is there a singleplayer game?
Besides the meteor as a adversary, are there others in the game?
I understand the game to be more of a eco-friendly management game, but will there be other mechanics or features to change the way you want to play, like other "survival" games?
Thank you for any information.

Keep in mind I recieved this game for free from my friend without even ever hearing of the game before he got it for me.

I am very cheap with my money and I pretty much almost never want to spend it. After playing this game for way too many hours I would honestly say yes.

It is definitely worth buying if I had to spend my own money to get it. The community so far is great, the game play is fun, and the devs are very active with updates and in the Steam Discussion board so far. Singleplayer is possible, but still a bit in the works so if you wish to play singleplayer I recommend waiting a little longer. If there is any extra stuff you want to ask go ahead or even friend me and I can't chat with you more about it.

You can play multiplayer and singleplayer, but singleplayer is still being improved so that it is actually feasible.

Typically the change the way to play part comes with multiplayer, as everyone has professions that make them better at or able to do things that you can not. Gathering, selling, buying, trading, and significantly more.

I appreciate the feedback on the game and I think I will purchase it, after I do a little more research and watch a few lets play vids. Im pretty much sold on the game, however, I would hate to buy it and find out that you are basically just trying to stop a meteor in so many days and thats about it.
I realise the game has a huge in depth system for planning, laws, building civilizations, however, I would hate that I would have to be rushed to do that knowing I have to stop the threat of a meteor totally wiping my game out. Im more on the relaxed sided of survival games, and I love intense play when Im ready for it. I dont like things to force my hand when I play, if you know what I mean?

I dig a lot about this game, but I would like options to turn specific things off, like polluting the planet, a lot of the micromengent stuff (making laws, etc, etc), not having to race to ward off a meteor, etc, etc.... I play games like ARK, Citadel: Forged with Fire and those types of survival games, while can get brutal and fast paced, are also geared to your tastes and give you many ways to play the game the way you want.
If ECO has a specific road that it plans to stick to in way of how they want you to play the game, then I respect that and may pick it up later when I think Ill be ready for that type of gameplay. Just wanting to know if they plan to give a lot of different gamers options to play it the way they want, if so, Ill get it tomorrow. If not, then I respect that and may buy it later when Im ready for that type of gameplay.

Preciate the information and feedback!

Keep in mind the rush isn't really a thing since the meteor takes 30 REAL LIFE days before it starts to destroy the earth. The game is extremely relaxed. Keep in mind you can not be killed in any way(even when the meteor destroys the environment).

But would it worths it if your friend wasn't playing? I been watching this game before it was even on Steam.. long time before.. but... i heard it's not really playable alone since you can't get everything alone... but i doubt any of my friends will ever buy this :/

Its a decent enough game, but it doesnt deliver to my expectations. it doesnt play out as i expected at all really. but its worth the money anything around £20 pricetag for a new release is a fair price i think...

its just not as special as i thought it was going to be

For me excellent game, unlimited possibilities, first ever realistic simulation of the ecosystem.
Graphics are very nice and I don't see how someone is hesitating to buy this! :)

You play alone?
I know none my friends will get this... and I'm not sure i'll want or have enough time to invest in a server with strangers... how playable is it alone?

I play alone, the problem is most of the features that make this different in nature are multiplayer features, and make no sense on singleplayer mode. land deeds, locks, trading, stores, jobs, careers, reputation, boards, currency, economy all pointless in SPmode

SPmode = construction minecraft style game with a better tech-tree and the meterorite is the only real purpose as well as being the endgame for both options.

Also there are servers with the meteor disabled.

at the moment, i dont think its worth its price. many ppl are stuck with t1 stuff because the devs implemented changes that prevent u from advancing further and even though they said to have fixed the issue in 7.05, really for many ppl they didnt fix it. also there are many gameplay related mechanics that look good on paper but are not yet brought to their full potential. it is also way to easy to break the game on public mp servers

Potential to be a great game except for the lefty non-sense.
