*hint* if you use a carpentry table to hew the logs and have enough skill in hewn logs you'll get more than 1 hewn log from every regular log.
how do i put a roof on this:

when i have some "hewn log" and hammer active from the build selection menu there is a apex roof option, but says to make i need x,y,z but those require workstations that require a room in the first place, and i cant make the room because i cant make the roof sections...
I tired to make a roof using the wall sections, but that creates a cross section with hole in it !!
what gives ?
oh I didn't know you had to use hammer to place the walls and stuff
I'm not sure what that picture is meant to show but I usually don't leave open spaces like you have in the walls. I assume you are going to put windows there but it is easier (for me) to place all solid walls down first, put up the roof, then use the hammer to hammer out the spots you want windows. When you hammer a spot you get the piece back. As for the roof. I just hold some hewn logs, select the hammer, hold shift and mouse wheel down to the roof option. I found it easier to put up the first border of the roof by standing on the wall and looking down.

it requires hew construction lv.2, which requires wood construction, which requires a book from the research table, which must be kept in a room....
which is the problem, because it doesnt count the picture above as a room without a roof, which is unselectable and unresearchable unless im missing something in the prerequisites
I would recommend using the Floor form for your roofs to start, since they cover the whole block space nicely. The idea there is that if you cover your walls with a layer of floor you could then easily make a second level for your building, or later improve the looks of it by adding a roof on top of that or converting what is there into Roof blocks.
You never are required to use the Roof forms to create fully usable Rooms-- Walls and Floor forms should be all you need to make functional buildings.

I figured the wall would snap to the edge of the floor hiding the end of the floor. so all you would see when walking around the house would be the wall
Yeah, it's always been that way since I've been playing.
I don't remember it being like that on the website version of the game tho I'm probably wrong xD
