This
I bought it ages ago in alpha. Ive only played it solo. Its slow ill say that but back then you had to set up servvers and it was a pain in the ass. Now you can just click single player.

But yeah, its slow but if you like single player itll still be a great game.

How does the economy work in singleplayer? Bots? Or is single player just a shell of a game where your just essentially playing minecraft?

Solo you are basically attacking the tech tree in dire hope of laser and power unlock to stop the meteor.

So Con, big grind, Pro you control all resources so can limit waste.

If there was some automation or bots it would probably a much more unique experiance.

more infos on how single player works will be appreciated... I sure don't want another minecraft game.

I would also like more info about single player. Seems there's a lot going on with the game that appears to rely on multiplayer interaction. How important are those aspects to the progression and how are they overcome in single player?

True enough on the bots. Yeah I'm going to skip. I already have enough minecraft clones. Looks interesting but with all the trolls on the internet I don't see this being fun as it requires a lot of cooperation. And have you seen steam users? I don't see it happening.

We personally recommend to play eco with others .. Its more fun that way. Though some people rather play games like this alone

The game is certainly.. Do-able in singleplayer, but why would you even want to play it like that?
It's lonely and boring.

Hey NoBlackThunder, I understand the game is mainly for multiplayer, but some of us either don't have the time to grind with others, or have found playing on servers are usually filled with trolls and griefers, or, like me, don't have any friends (pls refrain from the flaming).

If everyone is supposed to play this on servers, why bother with single player at all then? It seems counter-productive if you're just going to tell people to play with others rather than help with single player issues.

theres alot of features for MANAGING multiplayer, but you dont need that for single (or 2-3) player. YOU control everything, so theres no need for an economy or laws (are you going to break your own law?). furthermore in single player time only moves when you actually play the game, so its not like if you dont play for a day or 2 that will amount to progress lost.

they also multiplied the exp by 24 (if i recall..) to facilitate 1 person doing the jobs of 20(ish) and as mentioned above you dont have to worry about pollution or some angry nerd child coming in and killing all the wild life because mommy stopped breast feeding them at 12. you also own the entire planet and all the resources, so no worrying about not having access to anything. theres also the console which is in my eyes TOO easy to use but if you mess something up you can use that to fix it, including repopulating the planets wildlife or giving yourself food or skill points (or just flying around to see whats what).

VERY easily a single player game where you can just do as you please and explore or build as you see fit. to be honest in game as in reality getting humans to do what you want them to as a group is tantamount to herding cats. alot of the people running servers (i dont even have enough fingers to point if i wanted to) are only doing it so THEY can be the admin and cheat while living out their childish fascist fantasies because they have 0 power in real life, and rest assured if they dont like the way things are they absolutely 100% WILL take their server and go home (and restart it because that lets them still pretend they have power).

I've not met ONE of these so far on my public server. This is probably not the kind of game that attracts kiddies

There is automation to a degree. You can load raw resources into storage as inputs, and have work stations with waiting orders collect those resources automatically and begin producing an item. Those items can then be output to storage while another work station has an order waiting for something more complicated, and so on.

The only thing that I wish they would do to make this work more smoothly is allow you to adjust input and output separately instead of just enable or disable a storage unit completely.

Answer to thread opener: yes, it is worth buying for singleplayer. I have been playing singleplayer and been enjoying it very much.
Some aspects like laws are only for multiplayer. But in singleplayer you can also do all the research and can craft and build stuff. If you like that, then this is a game for you.
