Tree Farming

I was curious about the stipulation surrounding tree farms. Do they have to be a certain distance apart before trees will grow? Are their any other requirments to tree farms?

i've found that if you place them about 6 squares apart they grow

How is tree farming working?

I never found tree seeds. And in one solo game, as I was building my base in a forest, trees were growing all over my base.

You can use an axe to chop the leaves off of the branches to have a chance to get seeds. Note that it is a chance and not guaranteed but having your better Gathering skill will get you more seeds.
