Roads, and using them
So, ive been messing around with these for a laugh and its in SP mode, but ive tried to use them even though i dont feel so much requirement for them here, but anyway i achieved this by making buildings for each station far away from each other, this in turn encourages a requirement for a road.

so ive got my carpenter built in a area with a lot of trees, then im going to make a mason hut but instead as normal near my carpenter, its going where the largest deposit of stone and ore is and road to it, after all thats all ya do in mp mode road to each other, so now you get the idea.

well it meant building a road network down a cliff face, so taking mountain roads as inspiration, got started and my first point is ramps due to the fact they are 4tiles long makes thing really hard to step it down in fact in areas you end up with a very long slope, and not because you wanted that, but even a 4+ step up in ground tiles means the slope will be 16+ long, they end up looking ugly

then i cheated in a powered cart, and such to run a few tests, dragging the wood carts around was not so bad but a 4 wide road when turning is still better than a 2xwide one, a excavator is not suitable for a road but also suxs when not on one, and the powered cart actually really needs a min 6xwide road (probably 8wide) turns like crap if im honest.

im left thinking roads need more work, i would much rather the road tool make a edge tile a 1x1slope so i can control the gradients better, the fact the slopes are fixed makes certain plans impossible really, then we have the function of them, when a powered cart cant navigate a 4wide road in the first place its not good.

you have plans to add more vechiles, yet the powered cart cant handle the roads, bends

lmao almost choked on my coffee, well ya know i didnt really bother with any roads, the more i play the more useless everything becomes, i would have complained earlier if i had used them earlier, i do apologise haha

i mean honestly that powered cart what a complete waste of time lmfao

learn to drive XD their main benefit is their cappacity. Ye they turn like an ocean liner but our server we had four wide roads, little awkward on tight bends but not really a problem. Have to drive it like a rally car, turn before you enter the turn and remeber, always signal XD

Powered carts are not that bad if you plan your streets for them early on. But yes, their turnrate definitly needs some improvement

certainly i managed to get a powered cart up that mountain pass eventually but it was a straight forward affair even 4wide, but its also the general building of the roads, i try so hard to make them work with a natural look, this screenie for example is the section im constructing now

obviously im cheat flying, and give dirt,10 like crazy to blend the road restrictions into place mainly because the ramps, that x4 lengh kills things from a aesthetics stance. im trying desperately to bend that round around the bottom left, will it stuff go right

and then once its down, im cheating in a lot of dirt, to make it look natural all over again.
