Can't Insert Plant Fiber to Workbench

Hey there,
Going crazy trying to figure out what I'm missing. I'm at my workbench and part of the item I'm constructing (research table) calls for 30 pant fiber. I have 70 sitting in my toolbar, but no way to apply them to the project. Any ideas?

Well... I seem to have solved it myself. I removed the plant fibers from my inventory, put them in a storage box, took them back out, and was able to 'place plant fiber.'

IF you linked said chest to the workbench it should pull them itself.

did you perhaps have a large item in your Carry slot? this will prevent you from placing hotbar items into chests and benches. and as QC said, its easiest to link a storage chest to it first and just load the chest. also you can sort of set and forget Charred Pitch if you have 2 chests linked to a campfire. just queue up batches of 500 Charred/Fiber pitch, load one chest with pulp and/or fiber and just let it go. great way to stockpile loads of pitch later for roads.

All I literally did was take it out of my tool bar. Put it in a storage chest across the map. Took it back out of the storage chest and onto my toolbar and then I was able to use it. Just one of those wonky things.
