like what though?
seriously, 1 person can only change so much. how far am i really supposed to go? should i move out of my house and into a cave? its NOT going to change the fact that all my neighbors own multiple suvs/trucks instead of cars.
in this game real does indeed matter, or so much of it wouldnt be based on reality. it does a fairly good job of showing that small scale sustainability IS possible and even desirable.. which just makes the stupidity of the ending stand out even more. its like if you were playing one of the grand strategy games based on real world europe in the middle ages, and you sink 140 hours into the game researching cavalry and politics and farming and at the end of the game the world is invaded by phantom lizards from outer space with plasma rifles and massive boners.
sadly thats not the case, its as big a crock as "beauty is on the inside" and "size doesnt matter". MANY people dont give things that much thought in the first place (i present to you pop music..), and many more arent willing to sacrifice the even the smallest thing for the greater good. in my case the minds around me arent capable of change.. they are for the most part stupid, pitbull owning, giant truck driving, garbage burning rednecks (and i dont even live in the south).
to be honest its just a naive way to see things. i have always pushed those i have been able to influence to act intelligently and strive for roles that would have an impact on society.. as far as i know they all hit puberty and go mental. from getting addicted to drugs and selling their moms vintage guitars, to stealing cars, crashing motorcycles into stop signs, and knocking up under age girls (all different people mind you).. and THOSE were the ones that showed actual potential!
i know when you are young everything seems possible, i know kids think freedom is not only real but important, and i know everyone thinks THEY have a purpose. its all nonsense though. the only solution to any problem is to first accept the rigid limitations that are in place, and yes, alot of them suck. case in point.. its not physically possible to shoot a giant meteor out of the sky with a laser! about the only thing we have really shot out of the sky with a laser are drones.. which are largely made of fecking plastic! its not even like we did this from 100 miles away mind you!
yea, its a plan brimming with impossibilities. the laser moving through the water particles in the atmosphere would create steam which would reduce the power of the laser too.
long story short: game needs a new/better solution.
diamonds still heat up.. theres no way it wouldnt vaporize if you tried to push enough energy through it TO DESTROY A FRIGGIN METEOR. i dont think its surprising at all though that it can combine beans since prisms are known quite famously to split light.
for it to cool a meteor is also asinine, aside from the even more colossal amount of power needed you would need lasers from 6 directions (or 3 using mirrors.. meaning you would have to position mirrors around a moving meteor. at which point you may as well just fire rockets into the side of it to push it off course) to do it and its most likely going to have no impact on something the size of a meteor. they way you are saying it makes it sound like we have freeze beams, we dont.
there will be no beaming of people ever either.. the amount of data present in a human is profound. here ill just give you this link:

suffice to say "not going to happen".
as for smart people doing things.. generation tide pod aint gonna get us there and since we just lost stephen hawking you can officially consider the entire planet atleast 1% stupider.
7 billion people on earth less than 1 million are physicists. so look at a clock, the minute hand represents all the physicists on earth while the face of the clock represents all of humanity. until we solve that problem we can pretty much forget any meaningful progress. but by all means lets pump up those military spending budgets..
i already know how it works.. its not viable on a meteor. at all. again, the point was that you would have to position 3+ mirrors around the meteor (assuming you had 3 lasers instead of 6) opposite from the >>3<< angles you had the >>>3<<< lasers coming from, since you cant simply fire 3 lasers at it head on, they have to be at roughly 90 degree angles from one another. soo.. 1 from earth, 1 from the side, and one from the top. NOW assuming you went through the trouble of putting 2 lasers (in addition to the one on earth) in space and 3+ mirrors also in space.. why the hell wouldnt you just use the rockets themselves to >>>>PUSH the meteor off course?
again, lasers are just stupid for this. i cant even use the proper word because steam will censor it and people will cry about how "insensitive" i am, but this is orders of magnitude past stupid.
also, elon musk has a reputation as a charlatan, always has. nobody doubted his aspirations (or richard bransons) but what has he really done as far as building a "space empire"? its not like we didnt already have the space shuttles which went to space and returned to earth multiple times (or that he personally did anything but spend money..), hes done NOTHING new as far as space aside from being a civilian who won a government contract from nasa (which i may remind you was open to ANY takers as long as they could launch and land 3 times in a row). meanwhile virgin galactic has already built spaceport america and it sits empty in the middle of the desert.

do you even comprehend what "impossible" means? do you know what physics are? there are LOADS of things that are infact impossible!! no amount of sunny disposition or youthful naivety is going to change that.
