Big backpacks does nothing?
I would think that equipping a big backpack would offer me more backpack storage space, but that doesn't seem to do anything at all, same space as the basic packpack.

Is this intentional, a bug, a joke or what? Wasted skill points in tailoring if I can't provide a bigger backpack with more space for storage.

Yep. You don't get any more slots, just more available weight. It becomes useful for carrying large harvests or lugging around metal without needing a cart. Tailoring is also used to make some furniture but that's about it. It's not really fleshed out at the moment.

I thought the work backpack gave more weight bonus, what is the sense in having backpacks just for extra weight? I rarely ever need extra weight, only if I try to carry like more then 1 bison.

If the Work Backpack is like the Work Boots, it gives you reduced calorie consumption.

Metal ingots and several other items can get extremely heavy so if you work with those materials often a bigger backpack is very beneficial.
