Is there way to find lost carts?

I was over the ocean building a bridge with my powered cart ... then I fell off when I came back my cart was gone ... flew off I guess ...

Now I wanna know to where, so I can get it back.

(I am playing alone on my own server ... and cart still half full)
Edit: I flew around in the vicinity but did not find it ... that lead me to ask here.

Yeah, just hit enter and then type "Wood Cart", or whatever type of cart you lost. That will create a hyperlink/popup. At the bottom of the popup for "Wood Cart" will be a list of all placed Wood Carts on the world. umm ... but that showes it to me where I left it off ... even after restrting the client and the server ... it is nowhere to be found ... I also looked under my bridge on the ocean floor ...
I think that is a bug of the nasty kind ....

It might well be a bug. One thing you can try is to take a workbench to the spot where it was lost. If you place the bench then check the storage tab, it will show if the cart is nearby, then you'll know if it's worth searching for.

The map marker should be working in three dimensions, so if it isn't where it says then as noph says, sounds like a bug. Also probably a pretty useful savefile for the devs, these things can be hard to recreate intentionally sometimes. Definitely worth popping in a bug report over on github, they're very attentive over there and sure one of the devs will pick it up within a day.

You could make a copy of your save files, then carry on. Console commands are an option to spawn in a replacement, I think;

/give Wood Cart,1

or

/give WoodCart,1

Should spawn you a new cart, which seems fair in light of losing it to a bug.

To my problem:
Well, the finding method shows it is there ... the inventory sure is (confirmed with the chest) but it is nowhere to be seen ...
