I'm wondering if the devs really want people to have a 100 things to power up this.
the generator says the best fuel is gasoline @ 50K J with 3 full barrels per generator max
but 13 of em on top of my already electric network which was giving out... supply 5000w
so with the generators (once i put the gas in them) i have a total now of 24,500w
and the computer that controls the 4 lasers reads it demands 24,450w
(remember 2x100w for 2xpumps and 250w being used for my roller to get the building done
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1311073993
so we can take 450 of the demand when im ready to fire i can stop those.
let me just put 1 log into each generator, get back to ya
6,000 per laser x 4 = 24,000
16xgenerators@1,500watts output === 24,000 (+/- your current electric grid)
if you already have some wind turbines down creating lets say 1,500watts, turn all electrical items of everything stop all workstations, etc, you then only need 15 generators because your exsisting network of turbines creates 1,500watts.
the supply from the generators doesnt show on the network until they are fuelled and switched on, im guessing you dont want them turned on when the orbit of the metorite is on the other side of the planet.
also the demand for the lasers wont be placed on the network until all four have been placed down.
1xbarrels of gasoline in all 16 generators burns @ 50,000J and last for ???mins/secs when the network is active ???

1xbarrel of gasoline in all 16 generators burns @ 50,000J and last for 4mins when the laser network is active with nothing else running
PS they can hold more than 3 barrels, so correct that statement, too....
Does the laser do anything? Like do you see anything come out of them?
Yeah they do something visually. I dont want to spoiler :)
by the time i ran around turned on the generators, then the computer, ran back to the generator to get a timing on fuel burn i saw nothing happen, because i was watching the generator ;lol
i will say this much i found it very lack luster considering the crap ive gone through to get it done. i was expecting it to be a bigger ordeal like maybe have to fire a beam at it for several hours or a few passings (heck i saved a full stockpile of gasoline for the event) etc
It was about as big of a ordeal as burning two iron ore in a blast furnace
lmao
still i get to start over this time with knowledge of all things eco. And you are actually better of making a wind farm than the generators because once you have fired, the network demand on power drops so nothing works, unless your rocking the generators all the time.
or pick up the lasers, which you best of doing regardless of path taken
of course thats pretty moot anyway because you cant die in eco so theres no point continue to play the game once the rock has gone. you dont even need to craft or eat, the entire game literally just dies once the goal is completed.
but should for some strange reason you want to continue, then the wind farm is the better option.
The best method is just push it off from hitting the planet. This is what we do now in RL. You can use a laser to help push it. But if you have enough time, then you can just send something that stays in space to slightly move it.
What makes me PO about this is the USA edu dep gave this game company a few million a while back. And since this is going to be in schools, it's going to spread false info. The movie was bad enough, but that wasn't meant to be edu
