What's the ideal nutrition ratio?
There's only one post regarding the best food combination, but it's a year outdated.

Without knowing the exact ratio I'm trying to achieve, I'm just here eating stuff that increase my SP by 0.01, spam it until it started to decrease then switch to another food. And it's a pain in the butt when eating a wrong food decreases my SP more than 1.

Also, Pop-up message sometimes shows me that I've gained over +10 SP after eating, but when I look at the bottom left, it remains unchanged. It just happens to food that gives me more than 10 SP. Is it a bug or something?

The correct ratio is equal parts carbs, fat, vitamin, and protein. Get all 4 of those balanced perfectly and you will get a skill gain multiplier. But the primary factor affecting your nutrition skill gain is still the sum of the nutrients in the food. So, a perfectly balanced food with 10 carbs, 10 fat, 10 vit, and 10 protein will give 40 SP today TIMES the balance multiplier of 2.0 (max), for 80 SP per day. You can get a good idea of the "tier" of food by adding up its nutrient content.

Do such perfectly balanced food(10 of everything) exist in the game? And what are some easily obtainable/made good tier food?

Also, to do the math, If I only eat charred meat (10 fat/10 protein) and compensate the lack of C and V with x2 fireweed shoots(3 carbs/4 vit each), I should able to get close to 80SP, correct?

Develop the cooking skill and make better meals, you can get much more xp than mentioned. Also there are lists about this floating around. Google is your friend, as Im on my phone.

Lymark, in your example of charred meat + 2 fireweed shoots, those only have an average total nutrient content of 11.3 [(20 + 7 + 7)/3]. Calories are also weighted into the equation (i.e. higher cal food has more of an impact), so this 11.3 is without the calorie weighting and without the balance multiplier applied.

We really need to record the food equation somewhere. Perhaps someone could add it to the wiki? https://eco.gamepedia.com/Food

Thanks! I've got the hang of the food system after a few days of playing now. Although, I also agree that we need some sort of food sheet, as It's very inconvenience having to look at every single food myself.

Speaking of which, what else provides both Carbs and Vit only besides fireweed shoots? Their seeds are hard to come by and I'm looking for a replacement.

Blue berry muffins assuming they never changed recipies,

My old go to was bacon, baked meat and cooked sausage, for F & P, then Blue berry muffins and a wild stew for V, and C with maybe a normal bread thrown in to balance out the C intake.

But thats like tier 2-3 ish

I think early game was Camas mash and fiddlehead salad, and wheat porridge.

Strangly there is no real right answer IMO you really needed to look at what you had in your belly and what was the lowest point and the highest. Eat something that boosted the 2 lowest while maintaining or ignoring the 2 highest.

Like mentioned before higher cal total was always better.

Quick question, will you die if you only eat rabbit? Rabbit meat is not a complete protein, so if you just ate it you would die. Will Eco follow this? It seems like a realistic game, so I would like to see this followed. They don't have to, I just like realism in games X3.

You can't die in this game. There's no HP nor can you get killed by animals. The only downside of not eating properly is that you will not get as many skill points. And SPs are gained gradually in a in a 24 REAL LIFE hour period, profession SPs requirement increases the more you've spent. Thus, this game requires cooperation heavily If you don't wanna do things very slowly.

Random question, can you tame things like wolves and breed them in captivity?

Nope. I wish to have such feature too.

That being said, one of the expensive early access packs allows you to tame a wolf or a hare for cosmetic purpose only. So, I assume it could be easily implemented to the game in the future?
