This game would be incredible in Virtual Reality (VR)
I know it's not built for it and who knows what kind of quantum powered beast you'd have to have for it to work, but I think this game would be an excellent candidate for VR. Maybe Eco 2.0?

After playing several hours in No Man's Sky VR, it's easy to start seeing how other games would really be great to play in that type of environment.

Well, here's to hoping.

Hey Romdryl, it'd sure be, but we don't have any plans for it at the moment. The first things we'll look into after end of early access is consoles, so i'm not going to make you any hope on this.

Understood, and thanks for replying.

It's encouraging to hear not only is it not ruled out but the developer agrees (that it would be great in VR) and, sounds like, is willing to look into it at some point -- even if its implementation in the future is uncertain. That right there put me over the fence to buy. I've been itching for a really good 3D build / crafting type of game for a long while to play. Some look good but don't look like they have any depth (BUILD: Ultimate Sandbox Building Game, Islanders, etc. there's a tone of them), or the graphics seem like the core focus. This game's visuals don't detract from the game itself and the artistic style of the color palette & designs are GREAT for what it needs to be, and the store page reads like it has depth.
Bump, would love some of this as My team is using games like this for cooperation building exercises.

Ah yes Slideshow in VR. Devs if you're reading this comment consider optimizing your code for simulating stuff. This is my bet why the game runs ♥♥♥♥ (Even tho it runs on ♥♥♥♥ engine).

Unity isn't inherently a bad engine to use and many great games were made with it. (same can be said for Unreal, despite my massive bias against that engine)

There's a lot going on in this game that runs calculations for a ton of objects at once, which is probably a contributing factor to some performance loss. I'm not sure how the game renders all the various blocks and stuff, but I'm sure that does play some role in it.

IMHO, as a huge VR enthusiast, making a VR port for Eco would be a waste of developer time. First/3rd person survival games are not a good VR niche. I'd much rather see their efforts go into content updates and fixes for existing problems.
