Add a keyboard to Virtual Desktop
Most people will have problems typing completely without being able to at least glance at their keyboard. Very few people can type completely blind, and even power users usually need to take a look at least initially when they're about to type. I had a discussion over at Youtube about this, and one guy proposed a "reactive keyboard" that lights up buttons you press and that way you would be able to map where your fingers really are on your real keyboard.

Perhaps integration with the vive's integrated camera/grid tech it can be set up so the portion of view with the keyboard would be visible, if only at least semi transparent. Would be awesome.

TBH all I need to type is to find the bumps on the f and j keys, but trying to type numbers or use f-keys would be difficult.

You could use windows 10 on screen keyboard. Apparently you can use the chaperone camera also. See the setting for "Show Chaperone" in the option. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OcMCe4LESKE

Does the Windows 10 on-screen keyboard actually register what keys you're pressing on a physical keyboard (like by lighting up, changing color, etc)? As far as Chaperone is concerned, see my comment in the Webcam Support thread.

Windows 10 on screen keyboard needs the mouse to click keys. It does not light up keys when you hit them on the keyboard it just dissappears cause your using the actual keyboard. Another option is text to speech if you want to type something.

Why can't the front face camera be used to create the 3d backdrop for the VR. Or atleast blend with it. So you can see the room you are sitting in via the front face camera but with all the VR elements overlayed onto it. Having a 3d camera "mask" to define where you want to be able to see through the front facing camera ( such as where your keyboard is) and leave everything else.

Don't know if that makes alot of sense but it would certainly give you more flexibility for various peoples environments.

I'm looking at an option for someone sitting at a desk, where i would want the front facing camera to show the space on the desk surface and the wall behind it, but when you turn your head around or to the floor or ceiling it cuts off to the 3d wallpaper. This would all appear behind the virtual desktops.

It's a good time to practice using the keyboard without looking at it haha
