Headless Ghost questions
So if I don't want the monitor to be on to use Virtual Desktop, I'll need a headless ghost correct? If I want to use the full potential of Oculus Rift's resolution and 90hz refresh rate...what headless ghost should I get? Would 4k Newertech run at Oculus's resolution at 90hz with that?

Second Question. Can Virtual Desktop be assigned in Windows to start up at boot? If so is it possible to just turn on the PC and once VD boots up, it will display the desktop in the Oculus Rift right?

You can just turn off your monitor. For the headless ghost you are limited by the DVI/HDMI spec so you can't do 4k@90hz but you can do 2560x1440 at 90hz probably

Yes, there's an option to start it when Windows starts.

Thanks for reply but I was under the impression that your monitor had to be on in order for your GPU to read that a monitor is connected?

No, just has to be connected.

I am also looking into using Headless Ghost to play games in 1080p at 90hz on my Vive but I do not have an extra HDMI port. SikFly I was wondering by chance if you have tried using Headless Ghost using a Display Port to HDMI adapter, and if so are you also able to achieve 90hz at 1080p?

I have done it with a DVI-HDMI converter so I'm pretty sure it would work with a DisplayPort converter as well.

A very few monitors don't use the power off signal correctly and thus, when they are turned off, the computer sees them as completely gone. Hopefully, you don't have one of these. The one of mine that does this was made by TCL.
Also, it was determined that if you hook up the other input/outputs of your video card to the same monitor (using appropriate adapters), Windows will see them as "extra" monitors, even tho it can only show one input at a time itself. So, using a single monitor, connecting the DVI, and HDMI inputs to the corresponding ouputs (DVI, Displayport -leave the HDMI connector for your Vive) of your video card will give you 3 (in my case 4) displays in Virtual Desktop. (I have not personally verified this, but I've got my fingers crossed this actually does work!)

Hey guys, here is an info for all 90Hz gamers. I was asked this. Can I play Rocket League on the Vive using Virtual Desktop and headless ghost in 90Hz.

The answer is yes. Here is the setup:
CompuLab headless 4k connector (see Amazon link below)
HDMI to Displayport 4k adapter
4k TV (60Hz) via Displayport and AV receiver
Virtual Desktop
FRAPS

I connected the CompuLab headless via the DP to HDMI adapter to my GPU DP connector.
Then I started Virtual Desktop in "Other VR" mode. Then I turned off my TV, so only the headless ghost adapter was running.
Now I put on my Vive and started Rocket League. You have to manually select the Rocket League task because there is another window running. After that you can normally play Rocket League in 90fps.

I did set Rocket :League to 90fps max and VSync off.

Here are the items I used:
4K DP to HDMI adapter

4k headless ghost:

I hope this helps.

newer cards have hdmi 2.0 and should be able to output the high resolution high refresh rate modes we need if we add a custom resolution to headless ghost. Is this correct? Has anybody tested this?
