The problem is that the resolution of the VR glasses isn't high enough, you have pixellation. The pixellation doesn't matter during gaming, but when you watch a movie it's like you watch it on some old tube tv. Then there's the blurryness of the parts that aren't at the center of your eye. Apart from that the headset becomes heavy over time.
The Vive is for gaming, but not for watching movies. For movies you'd need a higher resolution display. It'll take a few years until that's ready.
How do you support that? Is there a manual? I was confused at first and totally thought the software is garbage. I tried watching SBS using the Video menu, but that's obviously only a projection to a sphere or a dome. Then I tried watching SBS in the movie theater mode (about which I had to ask someone first), which you can only access by using Virtual Desktop to display the desktop. I opened a video using a media player, but it showed the video side-by-side, not in 3d. I have absolutely no idea how to use your software.
so yea, i googled " full sbs on virtual desktop ? " and what do you know, im here, and all i had to do was load up the video like normal then press F6 or F7! You should make a mandatory tutorial, because finding or figuring out something like this (which I imagine every single purchaser will want to try if they knew about it) felt like a lesson in hitting myself in the face with a sand blaster
Heres another qurestion , is there an options menu somewhere? How do you configure this? All I can do is look at my desktop just like it apppears on my monitors only blurrier at this point I can't see why so many people love VD.

Well then tell me how to get to the setting screen and not the Steam Desktop viewer.
When I load VD in VR mode it does not take me to any setting screen so telling me it has all the option I need is really very helpful.
. It may well be Steams veiwer but when I click on "resume" VD it doesw nothing all I can do is exit it or reload it and after reload I'm back at the same spot, no where.
When you say load VD in VR mode, you mean clicking the Virtual Desktop image in SteamVR? What if you launch it from your apps list like you launch games in Steam, on the desktop, does the settings window appear?
I first launch it from my steam library after I have SteamVR running. At that point I'm launching straight just like any other game or app. I put on HMD and I see the "next up" Virtual Desktop loading screen in VR (this is a default SteamVR load screen
Once loaded I instantly end up in Steam in some sort of VR mode and I can see a "resume VD" icon, if I select it nothihng really happens. This screen also as 2 buttons at the bottom one says "Steam" the other "Desktop" The desktop is just a noormal desktop
As for the tray hmmmm kind of hard to see that stuff with a HMD on :) and I never see it due to issues above.
Do you meet the minimum requirements?
It does the same and yes I exceed minimum. I have a few games that kind of do the same thing meaning once I launh them they take me to that Steam screen, but after I re launch them from that same scrreen they run.
VD worked the very first time I ran it. I saw the options screen and all but I didn't have time to mess with it, so I closed it thinking I'd check it out later. It never worked after that. :(
I appreciate your help but don't want to lose sight of the point of this thread.
I spent a lot of time trying tio figure out how to open that options screen, thinking I just didn't know the magic key press, a little documentation would have pointed me in the right direction way sooner.
Take care.
