Virtual Desktop
Problems with VorpX in Virtual Desktop
Whenever I am in Virtual Desktop (On the Rift CV1) and I try to launch a game (Bioshock 1, and Bioshock Infinite) intended to be hooked into VorpX, the game crashes. If I turn off virtual desktop this does not happen.

It crashes at the Oculus runtime loading screen and tells me:

"Sorry, Bioshockinfinite.exe is taking a while to load. If the issue persists please take off the headset and check this app on your computer."
When I take the headset off I see a windows error box that said Bioshock Infinite has stopped working.

Sometimes it will get through the Oculus loading screen before freezing and showing me an hourglass until I take the headset off and see that the game has crashed.

My hypothesis is that both VorpX and Virtual Desktop are trying to hook into the game to render their conflicting display modes.

Is anyone else having this problem? Is there a fix? I would really like to be able to switch through games and applications without having to take my headset off.

Thanks,
C

The games boot from VorpX desktop viewer but I would much rather use Virtual Desktop.

Also VorpX desktop viewer returns to Oculus Home after exiting a game.

You are correct both apps are trying to inject the game executable. One way around this is to run the game in windowed or borderless mode; that way Virtual Desktop won't need to inject.
That fixed it.

I would be nice if there was an excluded programs list, like in VorpX, where one could add executables to a list to prevent Virtual Desktop from attempting to inject. Windowed mode can reduce performance in games.

This will do for now,
Thanks!

Good idea, I'll add an option to disable injection entirely.
