Steam VD, WMR and Firefox video streaming
So with Quest I can stream pretty much any video service using Firefox in VD from Oculus. Including Vudu. However, the Steam version of VD used with my Odyssey+ in WMR will not stream with Firefox. I get the dreaded DRM issues. Either black screen with sound or an outright media error depending what service I am trying to stream. Am I missing something? Is the Steam version that much different in how it streams the desktop? Thanks for any suggestions.

The part that captures the desktop is exactly the same so should have the same DRM issues

Thanks for the reply. I thought so, but for whatever reason Firefox, which is the recommended workaround on Quest VD for DRM streaming issues, works fine on Quest VD, but not Steam VD. Is there a possibility it could be related to the streamer app for Quest running the same time Steam VD is launched? I'll try closing that first and see what happens.

It shouldn’t matter, I’ll look into it today and see if I can reproduce

Thanks, I tried exiting the PC Streamer for the Quest version and that made no difference. Still will not stream in Firefox.

I tried and it was working for me so I’m not sure what could be the issue on your side

Ok thanks, I'll keep looking

SO I'm circling back to this. Not really sure it has anything to do with VD, just asking just the same. I have done a lot of tests, settings etc. If I use Oculus Link on my Quest with the VD PC application, streaming Vudu in HDX works fine in Firefox. Quest wireless side loaded version works fine. Odyssey+ in WMR does not work. All using Firefox to stream.

It is complaining I need an HDCP capable monitor or graphics card and offers to bump it down to SD. FandangoNOW, Prime Video and MS Movies and TV all work fine in HD while in VD (don't need VD in WMR for Prime or MS Movies-just did it to test in VD).

Any idea? Maybe an Odyssey+ limitation?

Could be a protection that Microsoft adds to WMR headsets. There’s nothing I can do on my end about this
