[VD Quest] Sound clipping
In the following scene of Half-Life:Alyx I get heavy crackling noise when playing over VD, which sounds like digital clipping.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HMbbxN21urM

In the video the sound is without this issue.
When I play the video over VD to my Quest, it is also without the issue.
When playing the game over Oculus Link the sound is without issue.

The issue only happens, when playing the game over VD.

I've tried the following steps without luck.

- reducing the volume in the SteamVR overlay
- reducing the Quest volume with the buttons
- disable "use virtual audio driver" in the streamer desktop app

Another scene ealier in the game:

I don’t do any volume amplification in Virtual Desktop; the audio is sent directly without any modification so the issue is likely network related. Is your computer wired to a 5ghz router with gigabit Ethernet?

Yes and yes.

Its only in noisy parts like these two. So its definitively a kind clipping.

I don't know why its different, when I play a Shadowplay record in WMP over VD

vs.

play the game directly over VD.

There must be some kind of difference in the route.

The Quest has often clipping issues with the built-in speakers and a restart of the headset usually resolves them. I’ll try to reproduce and see if there’s something I can do

Hello, I have the same issue I think since the last update, sound crackling when it's loud like when a gun is firing close to you.

I tried multiple headphones and also the quest speakers and it's there.

nevermind a reinstallation of the streamer app seems to have solved my issue, maybe something went wrong during the update before.

I’ve heard that re-installing the Streamer solves the issue from another user btw, so I’d give this a try

I'm using the Deluxe Audio Strap (Frankenquest).

Tried reinstalling the Streamer. Did not help for me.

I have the same issue while playing Boxvr. There isn't any issue if I start the game with Oculus Link

I think it happens after the latest VD update, because I didn't have any issue with the previous version.
