Virtual Desktop Audio - what is it ?
What is the new "virtual desktop audio" audio device and What does it need?

It only gets used if the “Use virtual audio driver” option is checked. It’s a custom device that prevents sounds from going to your physical computer speakers

I removed this checkbox,but
it's no works :((( I can't disable sound in my oculus headset headphone!
Any settings no result,sound in HMD always attend :(((
How to disable it ??? I need sound to system default device only!!!

If you have the mobile version, uncheck “Stream audio”. With the PC VR version, you can mute your headset speakers in windows

Thank you for support! I have PC version+Rift S.And I tried steam ver. and Oculus store ver. - same too.

this no way.I use Razer Surraund and I switch sound drvice in it,but I can't use this with VD-in my HMD sound double with echo.
How can I delete this driver completely?
I am forced to use old versions of VD (1.3 ver.) , where no this function:(((

1.Tried complitely delete "Virtual Desktop Audio" in Device Manager

but after launch VD this appeared again
2.helped only if I no delete "Virtual Desktop Audio" in Device Manager , but disable device in "Sound Devices"

He is right. Virtual Desktop Audio device remains installed also after uninstalling the streamer app.
I kindly ask you how i can uninstall it. @ggodin

Go in Device Manager and delete it from there

I deleted it fully?but after start VD Virtual Desktop Audio again appear in Device Manager :(((
It very annoying and it maked echo in my Rift S headphones if I use Razer Surraund(Synapse) programm !!!
Please fully remove Virtual Desktop Audio for us (PC HMD users) !!!

Only after I deleted VirtualDesktop.Setup.exe from root VD folder only than Virtual Desktop Audio stopped self installing in my system !!!(((
...but now after restart oculus service VD do not running :(((

If you start deleting files/folders things will break yes. Having the driver installed should not affect anything because it doesn’t get enabled and should not get used by other apps

driver installed - creates an effect parallel audio track that duplicates the main channel.
I use Razer Surraund for much hi sound and I hear a double sound in the headphones until I turn off the Virtual audio device in this

I have not used virtual desktop since January 29, 2019. It gets enabled seemingly at random ALL THE TIME. Uninstalling it from device manager does not work. It comes back. I work in audio. I need a way to rid my system of this workflow killer.

Probably because the app auto-updates in Steam. Disable auto-update for the app and you wont have that problem.
