Virtual Desktop

Virtual Desktop

32:9 / 5120x1440 Support?
I did see another thread about support for this but the answer only applied to oculus Users

I have the Samsung odyssey G9 that has an aspect ratio of 32:9 and a resolution of 5120x1440 and would like to use virtual desktop with it.

First solution?
in the other thread meant for the oculus user the VD dev said to turn off the "optimal resolution" setting. I've tried to play with the resolution slider in steam VR with no luck. What is the equivalent for Steam VR and if this isn't the solution then what is the workaround? I also tried changing the desktop resolution on my computer to 5120x1440 but the VD screen just shows as black, this is the same for any resolution I pick but 1920x1080 I also tried making a custom resolution in Nvidia Control Panel but ended in a black VD screen as well.

Second solution?
The monitor natively supports PIP/PBP Mode, Could I run the side by side screen on the physical desktop and see them both in VD side by side? The graphics card only has two DP input slots one of which is being used by the monitor and the other by the index headset. It does also have two regular HDMI slots. I may be able to hook up a regular HDMI to the monitor from one of the open HDMI slots on the GPU and run it as a side by side in VD?

Now while the second solution is a bit of a pain if it allows me to run each display in VD at a higher resolution of 1920x1080 each instead of a poorly downscaled 5120x1440 than that could be the better solution at the end of the day.

Some of my specs
VR Headset: Valve Index
GPU: Nvidia RTX 3070 (can upgrade if needed)
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5800X

The wired version of Virtual Desktop always displays your monitors at full resolution. That being said, today’s VR headset have the equivalent of 1080P per eye so using a higher resolution than that means things will become hard to read
