Stream VR to Laptop?

Ok I'm purchasing a VR headset and have a beefy pc in my bedroom. This is where I spend most of my time and want to primarily use my headset there.

I also have a nice living room, and wouldn't mind showing off my VR headset there. Since I routinely play my computer on my living room TV via AndroidTV through moonlight, I was curious if I could do this via Virtual Desktop.

I'd love to occasionally attach my vr headset to my lower-powered laptop in my living room, but run the software on my beefy computer in the bedroom. My PC is wired via gigabit, and my laptop can be wired as well, though it's currently using 5ghz Wifi.

Will Virtual Desktop let me do this? How's the lag?

Virtual Desktop on Quest lets you stream your desktop as well as VR games wirelessly. There are plenty of videos online demonstrating this

My hope is to use an HP Reverb G2 on my laptop in the living room while using the power of the computer in my bedroom to power it. This seems to work on the Oculus, I'm hoping it would work through Steam as well.

Anybody have any experience getting this to work on a non-oculus headset?
