Virtual Desktop

No more SBS directly to Rift?
So i used to press F6 (default key) to display SBS content DIRECTLY to the Oculus Rift, but since the update, that feature has been taken out?
Right now, i can only display SBS content to the virtual screen (the bent screen in front of me), making the rift essentialy useless as that is not VR meaning that the only way to display VR videos right now is having the video on your harddrive.

I hope this is a bug, otherwise: why would you remove the possibility to watch SBS videos in the web browser?

No other app uses Direct rendering to the headset like this so they removed it.

SBS Shader with IPD and polymonial barrel configuration. Free.

I use it with Virtual Desktop since I bought my HDM.

I was using SBS with Distortion to play Team fortress 2 and the Half-life games. I hoped this gets fixed they are some of my favorite VR games ever.

Had the headlock on with curve turned to 0, screen size was about 40 degress, and screen distance was set to 7 meters. This could work if IPD was not an issue, came out of my rift and took several seconds till I was able to focus on my surroundings.

The shader I posted above your post has IPD fine tuning.

The headlock no delay removes the virtual screen and displays it directly, but it shows the entire picture meaning that 1. its nausiating to move your head and have the entire world your in move and tilt with you 2. you do not move the camera, as the entire screen is already displayed. You kinda only move the canvas of a scene, not the camera (if that makes sense to non-programmers...) 3. the edges are extremely distorted

That is not VR.

I actually have been using the Oculus every day (only had it for 3 weeks now) and since the update i used it once. The SBS direct was just such an important feature for me that apparently i don´t bother to put the thing on my head and start up all the programs for it anymore...
(Which is a shame, it cost me 900€ after all)

I´m wishing that i could just downgrade to the previous version where everything was fine, but knowing programs these days, i don´t think thas possible...

Please do; I've experienced the same issue since the last update, and the workaround solution of enabling head tracking, makes me extremely nauseous in a matter of seconds. Please find an actual solution to regain old direct SBS functionality. It was literally the only reason I purchased Virtual Desktop in the first place, and as far as I'm concerned, this software is useless without it. Please provide updates on progress that has been made moving forward.

Thanks

You can use F6 and F7 in the same way.

Nausea (regardless of reason being static or free movement) reduces and then eliminates using HDM daily. I know several players who were like you, but they left the small comfort zone for a while and now have a huge comfort zone.

And no, software is not useless without the "direct to rift". Maybe for you, but not for me.

F6 used to produce a 3D effect within the video itself. Now it just looks like you're watcing on a screen that's been distorted on the edges. Whatever it is that's been changed, is making it so that F6/F7 is NOT producing the same effect, and thus cannot be used in the same way, as it stands. Bottom line, stereographic video no longer appears as being 3D.
And say what you will about the experience of other players, but any unnatural movement has always given me nausea. No matter how many times I've tried leaving my "comfort zone", a minute or 2 will make me sick for an hour afterwards. Also, I never indicated that other software was useless without this function, but as far as I'm concerned, Virtual Desktop definitley is. Ultimately, I'll just end up finding software that does it better.

On my computer produces exactly the same effect, the difference is that I need to change some settings in SuperDepth 3D and Polymonial Barrel, but I need to change that only once.

Yeah, I was actually trying that last night, per your suggestion, using ReShade, but I had trouble getting it set up, and didn't have the energy to fool with it. Maybe you can tell me where I went wrong -- I installed ReShade, and downloaded the filters (shaders) from GitHub, but got stuck where it asks for the executable to be used with ReShade. I've always just played 3D videos full-screen through VLC player, and used Full SBS to merge the stereoscopic video into a 3D picture. I selected the VLC player executable, but I have a feeling it was looking for an actual VR application to run itself through. If you could let me know your thoughts, it'd be much appreciated.
Cheers

Actually, it looks like I may have found a workaround for my issue, which I'm starting to think may not be the same problem that everyone else is having. If I play videos directly through the Virtual Desktop video player, specifying 180° video, it works just like before. For some reason I'm still not able to get the same 3D effect using VLC or WMP with F6 for Full SBS, but this at least functions as a workaround for me. If anyone can explain why this works properly through the Virtual Desktop video player, but not the native desktop function, please let me know. Also, if this is a completely different issue from what everone else is experincing, please accept my apologies.

Thanks

Ok, do you want for games or movies?
In movies, SuperDepth does not generate 3D effect, but you can use the polymonial barrel to correct the screen format and IPD.

For deeper 3D effect in movies and series, I recommend "TriDef 3D", is the program I use with Virtual Desktop. It's not expensive.

If you want to play "non VR" games in 3D SBS, you need to indicate the game executable (SkyrimSE.exe, for example). Along with SuperDepth, you have a TXT document with game settings already tested and optimized, but several games that are not in the list are compatible, you have to do fine tuning , but after following the official cataloged games instructions, everything will be more intuitive.

The game needs to be DX8, DX9, DX10 and DX11.
DX12 and Vulkan are not compatible with ReShade.

PS: The 3D Depth dev is a good person, always helps ReShade forum users

It’s the SDK that doesn’t support DirectLayer anymore. I updated to SDK 1.20
huligan Dec 31, 2017 @ 7:31am
Ok! give me please VD 1.7.3.0
If VD 1.5.1.0 works for me, then 1.7.3.0 will work for me too :)

Give the opportunity to return back to the previous version, as on the beta version for example
