Wired PC + Wifi Oculus Quest?
Hey all, quick question on compatibility

I have a PC that is connected to my router by LAN and an Oculus Quest that is connected to the router by wifi. Would I be able to stream to the quest this way or does the PC also need to be connected by wifi? If the former is true, are there any online guides that go over how to do this? Thanks so much for the help.

Using a wired PC with the Quest connected via Wi-Fi is the recommended setup

Thank you!
Additional Question: is there a way to demo the version on the Oculus store to ensure that the app works with my wireless internet speeds?

There’s no demo but you can refund within 2 hours of use if it doesn’t work as you’d expect

Is this also supported using the quest with the quest link on PC? Like using the USB to access steam vr content?

@super_powerz internet speed doesn't matter, wifi speed does - but if you have any decent 5GHz wifi you'll be fine.

@ed.willson Virtual Desktop works via wifi. You can use Oculus Link to play using Oculus software, but it can be more laggy than Virtual Desktop (a bit higher fidelity though).

Why in the world would I want to tether my PC to the router in order to use the Quest 2 wirelessly? It seriously can't stream the game from my PC to the Headset without my PC being hardwired to the router? If that's true then the Quest 2 is a worthless and this isn't a solution might as well stick with a rift which btw doesn't compress the video and shows the actual image over display port. Sounds like the Quest 2 is gimmick to make you buy you games again. Bet you want people to go buy that $69 cord you sell and then guess what YOU HAVE A RIFT at that point except its more uncomfortable than a rift

Because today’s Wi-Fi technology (Wi-Fi 5 or AC) can’t send and receive at the same time so devices take turn to send/receive data, Having the computer wired to the router, reduces the chatter in the airwaves considerably when streaming VR games at low latency.

Everyone except you apparently already knows that having a wired connection to your router greatly improves performance for PC VR.

Also why are you telling the developers "Bet you want people to go buy that $69 cord you sell"? They don't sell the cable, they're not Meta. Meta sells the Link cable.

Another point is that the Rift is inferior to the Quest 2 in almost every conceivable way. Lower resolution on the headset, worse controllers, worse tracking. So no, connecting a cable to the Quest 2 doesn't make it a Rift.

If you're going to rant at least get your facts right.
